what kind of gas milage are you getting?

have you preformed basic mantaince on it? like fuel filter, air filter, sparkplugs?

also, have you set the tire pressures correctly?

The biggest gas mileage gain in any vehicle comes from a light right foot.

If you have over sized tires or heavier rims, these eat into mpg in a hurry.

even a 1 mpg increase isnt going to save you but maybe $5/month. a pack of gum and a soda, thats some saving power

Exclamation Easy

Keep it tuned up. Change the oil and filters regularly. Keep your truck clean.
Keep the tires properly inflated. Keep it in the right lane, it's not a race car.
Stay out of the gas pedal as much as you can. The sooner you get into overdrive, the lower the R's, the better your gas mileage will be. Even avoiding excessive usage of the compressor for air conditioning will buy you an mpg or so. 16 - 21 mpg is normal. If you're getting worse than that something is amiss. My '03 with 4.2 is consistently around 19 mpg. Remember, it's a 2 & 1/2 ton office.

My $0.02.

lol what if he really hates eggs? but really if you are that conserned about gas mileage, you shouldnt own a truck. summertime i get about 20mpg average, that is with heavy acceleration half the time. its like 19.8. but with winter time being here, the gas is the winter mix which is less mpgs plus weight in the truck for traction and also the snow that gets in the bed adds weight plus the warm-up time while scraping snow and ice off takes more away, plus having the heater and/or defroster on takes more. and alos driving thru slush or 5 inches of snow covered roads adds more resistance. i just filled up today and got 15.42mpgs. without my cold air intake i think another 1mpg less than that. yes, wintertime sucks

with CAI, efans, and a programmer, on striaght-87 (non-E10 crap) and driving like a grandma got me my personal best of 465 miles and topping it off with 20.34 gallons = 22.86 mpg. 30% city and 65% highway (70 mph), 5% driving like a complete idiot

with my usual day-to-day driving in the city im getting 16 mpg

I bought a 1999 Honda stock civic just to get me to work and back. Saves gas and keeps my baby low mileage. On subject my truck gets anywhere from 17.8-20.1mpg

One more thing, make sure the brakes are releasing completely. A dragging in one of the wheels will kill your mileage bad.
