Story about my F-150 purchase from this weekend

I have been looking for an F-150 with a V6 for some time now. A while back I posted this thread.
https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=334025

So im checking out cars and autotrader about twice a week when I come across exactly what im looking for. (Silver, V6, auto, XLT, under 100k and in really good condition) So I found one for 7.5k it was a trade in and was just posted. I go look at it, drive it and get carfax on it everything is good. Then I get the appraisal on my B3000 DS and they only want to give me 6.5k for it, I say no way and go to leave. Long story short they let me take the F-150 home to try it out.

Next day I go back and tell them I don’t want it, I need more for my trade. After what felt like hours they gave me 500 more for trade and a 30 day warranty.
I have to say I was and am still impressed with this dealer, before they sold it to me they wanted to check it out thoughly as well as replace sparks, wires and coil pack, oil, wiper blades etc. . So I took home one of their loaner vehicles and the paperwork for my wife to sign.

I go home think about it, look at the numbers some more and decide Im not getting fair shake on my trade and I am going to back out of the deal.

SO I go back again tell them I don’t like the deal.
To sum it up I stuck to my guns I told them I wanted 8.5k or we don’t have a deal. Well they finally caved in and gave me what I wanted and I walked out a happy owner of a NUSED 02 -F-150 Sport

Why didn't you just buy a new truck?

So...why not just sell on your own?

As hard as it is to believe, I saw a 1998 Mazda B2500/stickshifter Cab Plus with 118,000ish miles on Autotrader at a used car lot for...$7950!

I don't miss having a Ranger clone that much. I'll just keep my Z28 as the toy as much F150 isn't that bad on gas...just the Ranger spoiled me when it was running on all 4 cylinders.

Carfax but no mechanical inspection done...don't get that method. But, if you escape that mistake, great.

I dont have any specifics YET but I want to start off with duel exaust, air intake and Line X. She came with a pretty decent JVC HU, it looks like the previous owner had a AMP and sub wired up under the rear seat, so it should be easy to add that in as well.

I tried to sell it for almost a year now. I couldnt wait any longer, my second child will be here in 9 days.
Once I got it home I went threw it with my friend the mechanic. Truck appears to be in good condition.

Congrats on finding your truck!!!! I'm sure you will love it. The reason I think they were asking about "why not buy a new truck" is because with all of the current incentives going to clear out the '08's it is sometimes cheaper or marginally more expensive to buy new rather than used. That was the case for me, went looking for a used truck and found exactly what I wanted in a new 08 for only a few thousand more which IMO is worth it due to the warranty and the peace of mind that no one has mistreated the truck before you bought it. Be sure to post up some pics of your new baby.

The only way to get a V-6 in a new 08 is in a standard cab 4x2 XL, you can find them with no A/C and a manual trans for 10 grand. With automatic and air, expect to pay about 13k.

It still irritates me that they don't put 4x4 on the v6. Almost like Ford doesn't want you to buy the v6 F150...

If I had 4x4 on my '07.. I'd be in heaven... along with a scab... then I'd be living life up.

But I might buy a older F150... for hitting up the trails. I just love the pushrod v6...

But I kind of need a SD first... we'll see...

I would enjoy 4x4 on my 05 also. I know it doesnt have the same amount of power as the v8, but still would be nice to hit the trails with it once in a while.

Not even hitting up the trails... I'd just like having it in the winter... so I can screw around a little further... Come to think of it... the v6 F150 with 4x4 might be better because it would be much harder to lose traction. Having too much hp for trail riding can be deadly.

However, don't expect to help people out in need... leave that for the SuperDutys or the v8 F150s...

Doesent make sense why they removed the V6 4x4, especially since the 04 up 4.2s are pushin a little more power
