Story about my F-150 purchase from this weekend
To the OP, congrats on the new to you "new truck". I too have an 02' F-150 Sport that I bought new in 02'. Love this truck, it's been a great truck and still runs just as good as the day I drove it off the lot back in 02'.
Well.....
first off, congrats on the new truck. I know your stoked :-)
About the dealer trade though; Just for the heck of it, go check out Kellybluebook.com Type in any vehicle, of any year. Then click on the "dealer trade in value". Next click on the private sale value". I promise, you will be blown away by the difference !
I found this out when I went to sell my old, worn out (216k) Toyota Tacoma. The dealer would not give me $1000 for it (which really didn't bother me too much, as I wouldn't have given you $1000 for my old worn out Toyota either ;-)
So, I promptly turned around and sold it on sacramento.craigslist.com for $2500 in barely more than an hour ! ...and that's because the guy lived 40 minutes away ! I ended up getting about 20 responses, in less than 2 hours.... and by the time it was all over, I felt like I should have asked $2960 for the old worn out thing (Kelly Blue book value for the private sale of that truck).
Peace,
Fish

Funny thing about used trucks, Jeeps, & sports cars that nobody should want. Somebody always wants it. There is always someone out there that sees the diamond in the rough, and wants to restore your eyesore.
