As long as I can afford to put gas in my truck I will drive fast and not worry about MPG's but still can complain about the high cost of gas we are paying. If I ever to to where I can't afford to fill the truck up I go back to a car and still drive fast going slow is just too boring.

I get 10-11 miles/gallon city and 13-14highway. And thats average over every tank of gas since i bought new tires. The only thing changed on my truck is 285/75/16 tires. My trucks a *****.

Just like mark03screw, I used to avg 10-11 mpg which gave me about 250 miles to a tank. Cash being tight and the price of gas being high, I have learnt to drive it a lot easier and now get 13+ mpg and 300+ miles to a tank. Slower starts, keeping the RPMs below 1700 on shifts, and try using your brakes less real help with mileage.

So what you are suggesting is to just not stop?

How?

Am I suppose to just run over everything in my path?

Just to let you know, unless your fuel pump is a completely different design from the 2004+, that's not the best idea. The fuel in your tank acts as a coolant for the pump. When you're down below ¼ tank and flooring it you're making the pump work at its max capacity while the coolant level is low. It's even worse if your flooring it from a standstill, as the sump may run dry and cause a lean condition in the motor in addition to overheating the fuel pump. The less fuel in the tank, the worse it will be, and eventually the pump will fail.

LOL.. no. The more you break, the more fuel you are wasting. HOW? Cause you are using fuel to gain speed which is not really needed. If it was needed, you wouldnt need to break. Think ahead and try coasting to a stop.

Pretend you have an egg between your foot and accelerator pedal.

I know this sounds like crap, but when trying to get the best mileage, these help a lot.
