My truck is a Reg. cab short bed XL.

And when you drive 80% highway have a, CAI, tune, E-Fans, and a 2/4 drop (really helps to get that *** out of the air), you can. I don't drive like a mad man, I just like to go fast. 3-4 WOT to a tank is about normal and its not like I run WOT to 90.

With your so called mad man driving the worst I have gotten was 380 miles to a tank. Thats still a 17 mpg average.

I call BS to that 430 miles on a tank, although those mods do help. I'm looking into a soft-top tonneau cover right now.

Basically the only travelling I have been doing is mostly highway for the past week. Although school starts back up tomorrow and I dont work for another week.

I'm currently at 250 miles at 1/2 tank. Thats all highway. The next 1/2 tank will be all city. I'm hoping to break my 400 mile goal. Believe it or not, slowing down isnt what saved me gas, the speeding up part did, I just let it accel slower. Most people go crazy when the light turns green but I go nice and easy and that seems to save the most gas.

BTW, to the guys who said "trucks arent meant for economy, blah blah blah" I'm with ya, but I'm 16 and I didn't have a choice. It's either this or ride a bus to school and walk 7 miles to work everyday. I use my truck as a truck maybe 3x a month. I try to use the bed and tow whenever possible, but when I'm commuting, who says you cant try to be economical with a truck?

I go slow primarily cause the last week all I did was 10 miles up the freeway to work and 10 back. Did that everyday all week. It's only a short 20 min ride and by leaving 5 min earlier than someone doing 75 all the way there I can save myself money.

The ScanGauge is a great little computer that does everything a programmer does except the programming part plus more. Its cheap and very helpful. BTW, check your owners manual, cause technically the tanks are only 24.5 US GAL to the filler tube. That .5 gallon of gas you *think* you have turns magically into air every time you fill up!

Have you ever put 25 gallons of gas in your truck? When my light comes on I usually only get 21- 22.5 gallons of gas in the tank. I have never paid for 23 gallons of gas.

You guys can be as skeptical as you want.

So you take 430/ 22.5 = 19.11111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111 11111111111111111111111

What one guy gets to the tank, vs another guy, is totally pointless.

We all have different driving habits and commute patterns.

A lot of us even have different sizes of gas tanks. You guys are talking about a 24.5 gallon tank or a 25 gallon tank. My gas tank is 27 gallons, and during the week, my driving is entirely in The City under "severe conditions". Stop & go. Idling. Short trips that only take me a few blocks. 0-65 @ wide open throttle when merging onto the highway, only to go less than 1 or 2 miles at highway speed does not qualify any of my driving as highway miles.

Why don't we compare numbers that actually seem relevant? Like miles per gallon? Not miles per tank.

when the light comes on u still have 2 gallons to use... so 22.5+2=24.5

It may be possible to get 430 to a tank. He has the 4.2 and a 5 speed manual single cab.
