21.16 Mpg

I don't know how but I got 21.16mpg out of my last tank. Pretty stoked about that. I normally average about 15. Nothing's changed...

Did you go anywhere, or did it evaporate? Just kidding, that's impressive.

Not sure when the winter blend will be discontinued in DFW... I was getting 17 mpg around October? Since then 14.5.

I always drive like a grandma. Even before the winter mix came in I was getting about 15, sometimes less (with the air on.)

Gas grades are controversial. While people complain about "winter gas", "summer gas" is right around the corner for some of us, and then there is "California Re-Formulated Gas". Here in CA, at least according to the broadcast news, "summer gas" is suppose to emit less pollutants, get worst mileage, and subsequently cost the consumer more because we have to pay for more gas to go the same distance. But doesn't "California Re-Formulated Gas" guarantee that we get cleaner gas (crappy gas translating to more detergents + additives and less energy) all year around?

I've seen my tank average rise and fall. It's always a surprise when the next "LOW FUEL" light comes on, and what my MPG computes to. With the ScanGauge II, I've seen daily averages from the low teens, up to the low twenties. We each have too many variables to consider, from gross weight, to driving habits, to driving conditions.

Get rid of your girlfriend and/or wife. The more she weighs, the more gas you save. Not only are you no longer hauling around her big butt, but you save on all those trip distances from all the rides that you are not giving her. See what that will save you in a month. For me: monthly gas - 32(fat *** + pick me up + drive me to) = new car payment. Not to mention the wear & tear she was adding to my old beater's shocks & springs.

I wonder what winter gas really is? All I know is what I have heard on this site... Is there winter gas in Texas?

....

I don't have a fat girlfriend. But thanks.

I have 150+ lbs of tools in my box on a daily basis. I drive the same distance, the same speed, every single day. I don't run any errands. I drive slow. I don't run the air/heat unless I have to. I always have the driver's side window down regardless of temp/climate.

I fill up at the same gas station every week.

Dunno why, but for some reason I got MUCH better gas mileage.

Winter gas is supposed to contain more ethanol. I don't know if we get it here. I know in the city (where I live/work/fill up,) there's ethanol anyway because of the clean air acts and crap.

yes it helps on "cold" start ups, and burns sooner (temp) and is slightly more dense

there are also different gas blends based on where you are buying gas, say country side vs downtown dallas. Dallas has emissions testing and carries "airated" gasoline, and the country side does not have testing and has regular gasoline. Airated gasoline is gas that has tiny tiny air bubbles pumped into it as its being processed, thus burns leaner, and less emissions.

and now they have 10% ethonal in the tested urban areas, and that is a whole 'nother story

Seeing as what gas was selling for today, I think we should do away with the mpg rating and adopt mpd. That's miles per dollar. My mpd sucked bigtime today.

I'm betting you got an early nozzle shutoff when you filled it. If so, your mileage on this tank will be really crappy.

Nope.. It's full. Double checked cause it only took 70$ to fill it.

Does Florida use a winter-blend gas w/ ethanol? I got my SG2 a month or two ago and the avg gas mileage for my heavy foot (17.5) for a full tank seems okay but sometimes I think it should be higher?

Thats because your truck is huge compared to the people bragging about their 19 and 20 average.
