Terrible Fuel Economy!
01 F150 Supercab 8ft bed 4x4 30 gallon tank 58k miles
Best mpg was 15.7 and that was with a tailwind
Worst and most common is 11-12 mpg. I think I'm going to change my fuel filter this week, but I doubt it'll ever get better. It is 16 feet of steel you know

I'm just happy I have five speed, what would it get with an auto?

Dirt, I agree. There is just something about ripping that shifter back and lettin her rip.
With all the different blends of gas these days, there can be a considerable difference in gas mileage. I just took a 3400 mile trip - from San Diego to Joplin via OR, WA, MT, ND, SD, and IA. I drove essentially the same way all the way - cruise control set to 5 mph over the limit. I got around 18 mpg on all but 2 tanks, and those 2 got 15. I don't think it was just the ethanol - all gas in CA has ethanol and I got 18 on CA gas. I also got 18 on one tank of 85 octane mountain gas and 15 on another tank of the same stuff - same brand (Exxon) but different state. Go figure.
Fuel economy isn't the strong point for these trucks. I go to school in the DFW area and drive 5 hours (300 mi) to go home, averaging 70-75 on the interstate, and use 3/4 of my tank. it usually comes out to about 17-18.5 mpg, which i guess is good considering i have to down shift to make it up the Mid-Texas hills.
07 reg. cab x2 short box, 4.2, auto. Last summer I was getting almost 20 mpgs. As the weather turned colder in MN, like below zero, my mileage dropped to 15-16 mpg. Mostly rural driving on two lanes, top speed 55-60 mph. I'm pleased with the mileage. As the weather warms up I expect to return to 20 mpgs or more now that the truck has some miles on it.
