Why get the smallest engine option, and then want more power out of it?

I have a 88 302 HO Mustang...it made like 225 HP...and it ran good...the 4.2 has like 205 or something..I'd say that's not too bad....Of coarse the 302 also had like 300Ft. Lbs of torque...

Well, I can assure you that you won't have to rebuild the tranny or the engine for a really long time. The 4.2l is an industrial engine... and mated with the automatic is nearly indestructable. Which only lies one way to destroy the truck is by running into things like telephone poles, other cars, pedestrians, not filling it with oil, coolant.... etc.

I had a '99 F150 with the 4.2l and the 5 speed... got 102k on it and no problems. Stupid me sold it and bought a Ford Escape. Bad move. I had the tranny die on me 3 times... on the 4th time it decided to die, I just out right traded it for the '07. Best choice I could have ever, ever, ever, ever made. This truck is totally freakin' awesome.

As far as getting more power out of it, I'd suggest getting the usual CAI, exhaust, and a Troyer tune. If you want serious power, just do a FI mod like a S/C or Turbo... that will bring you up way past the stock 5.4l if not more.

Anyhooo, got any pics of it? Would love to see it...

I did the same thing,basically.My 07 just turned 5k miles.The only things i've done to it;
5% tint all around
Alpine 9870 head unit
Kicker KS-68 speakers front and rear
Ford bug deflector
I'm leaving the engine stock.The only other thing I might do to it is put STX rims on it when the tires wear out.BTW,my mileage is getting better as the miles build up.I'm currently getting 19 highway and 16 city.

i put e-fans, underdrive pully, cold air intake, and an exhaust on my 4.2 and it has pretty good power. i did everything seperate and i would say e-fan was the best power adder
