1997 F150 Value?
Looking at trading in my 2000 Ranger 2wd, 4cyl, reg cab w/130,000 mi for a better truck.
Looking at a 1997 F150 XLT 4x4... gotta have 4x4 here in MT.
Navy Blue, grey cloth interior that is super clean, rhino lining with plastic bedrail covers, chrome side bars, matching chrome grille guard and brush guards.
It's the small 8 cyl, automatic, manual 4wd, power windows and locks.
It's got 128,000 miles. They want 9,940 for it. Is it worth it? I want to stay under 10K if possible.
How long do these trucks last? If it is in good shape, how many miles could I expect out of it?
Any help would be appreciated!

you got to understand when buying a truck dont worry about the grille guards and all that that really doesnt increase the vaule of the truck any its really high for its millage for a 97 you shouldnt pay more than 6k maybe
7k if really low milage 75k and really clean
id walk away

Indeed, that sounds way high.
To get a better idea, try www.edmunds.com, www.kbb.com, or www.traderonline.com. Those are the three I always look at to get an idea.

I just bought a 97 F150 XLT 4x4 Ext Cab with Off-road package with 123,500 miles, has 4.6, auto transmission, manual 4-wheel drive, power windows and locks at a local dealer. I traded my 96 Jeep GC Lmtd in on it. I gave $4600 difference. In reading a couple of the replys, I would assume that I didn't get a great deal! However; the dealer selling price on KBB for the 97 was $9150 and the trade in value for my Jeep was around $5000. My Jeep needed around $650 - $700 in repairs with CV joints and stabilizer bar links. I would have also needed to put new tires on before winter - that darn Jeep was very hard on tires!!
Anyway, I figured I was getting a pretty fair deal when looking at KBB and also NADA. I tried a few times to sell my Jeep on my own over the past couple of years, but didn't have much luck! Market is pretty soft on SUV's. This is the first time I've traded a vehicle in many, many years - always have had luck selling my vehicles in the past.
Anyway, this 97 F150 appears to be in excellent shape as I believe it has been used on highway travel only for a business.
So that's my $1 and 2 cents worth!!
