TSB sticker on Tranny

TSB sticker on Tranny
I have a 2001 Supercrew 4x4, 5.4, Tow P, 3.55LS, Off Road P. It apparently has the 4RW70 Tranny because the dipstick says use Mercon V and there is this curious yellow sticker on the tranny that says do not service this tranny unless TSB 00-16(which expires Aug 16th 2001 BTW) has been complied with. It also references a 4RW70 exchange program. Anyone else have this and what does it all mean?
My tranny also downshifts heavily from a higher gear down to 1st. Metallic clunk sound from directly underneath.
Thanks.

I also have a 2001 SCrew with the same sticker with the exact same message. I do not know what it means but there is also a phone number on it. I will try to call Monday and see if I can get more info.

All that means is the Ford is tracking quality on a certain number of transmissions.
Those transmissions with the sticker will not be repaired in the dealer if they have a problem. The TSB tells the dealer to call the factory for a new transmission if there is a problem. The old transmission is sent back to the transmission plant for analysis.
