Question transmission seizing engine

I have a 97 F350 4x4 diesel that periodically after driving and coming to a stop will make engine stall. When put in park engine will start with no problem, but when put in any gear it seizes engine like trying to start from a stop in 4th gear in a manual drive car. After this happens this truck will not move but after being towed several times and it sits for a couple of hours it seems to be working fine again almost as if something is being sucked up and stuck in a hydrolic line or something. Ford does not know what to do so they called a regional engineer that will not respond untill Nov. 30, 2001 so basically I've been screwed by fords Technology and their mechanics do not know how to fix something unless it throws a code out. ANY FORD ENGINEERS HERE THAT CAN HELP PLEASE

Your torque convertor may be prematurely locking up.

Does it kill the engine with your foot on the brake (which would normally de-couple the torque convertor)?

The torque converter clutch is stuck on.

Is that the only Ford dealer nearby? Maybe another dealer could diagnose and fix it.
