Get New or Use Old Torque Converter ?

Gathering some info for my 4RW70 rebuild --- 208k on it.

Is it a no brainer, get a rebuilt Torque Converter, or how best to proceed ?

There seems to be plenty of rebuilt for 100.00 - 150.00.

Rebuilt or new is fine, just don't reuse the original.

You should also flush the cooler lines and the cooler.

Run compressed air through them...I could rig up a pump with ATF ?

I might be missing something simple here ?

I would never reuse a converter OR a transmission cooler. There is no effective way to flush either. And you don't want debris from the old transmission to destroy the new transmission.

I can appreciate that, but the lines still need to be flushed, and what about the cooler in the radiator if it has one? Are you going to replace the radiator?

That depends on the nature of the failure. But usually I tell people to flush the lines and the cooler in the radiator. Always replace any stacked plate type cooler.
