Exclamation 1995 f150 4x4 5.8l not shifting

I have a 95 f150 4x4 5.8l that all of a sudden starting shifting wrong. The truck slams into 2nd gear and wont come out of 2nd unless truck comes to a stop or slows, the overdrive light starts to flash at that point. I know for a fact that the tranny is good. Now i was told it could be the vss. My speedo is fine and don't bounce but my abs light is on but has been for a few weeks, but it just started this shifting problem. can some one help me out?

It's possibly your differential speed sensor.

The flashing light means codes have been stored. Get those codes. Without them all we can do is guess while you buy parts to see if they fix it.

How do you get transmission codes out of a 95, which is not OBD2?

Either with an OBDI code reader, or a paper clip and count the flashes on the check engine light.

Got an exact number?

Reason I suspected the diff speed sensor is your ABS light is on.

You are going to get a lot better help if you can get the exact DTC number.

I don't know what a shift sensor is. I know all of the sensors on the trans, but I don't know what a shift sensor is.

332 - Insufficient EGR Flow Detected

452 - Insufficient Input From Vehicle Speed Sensor To PCM

634 - Manual Lever Position Sensor Voltage Higher -Or- Lower Than Expected OR Manual Lever Position (MLP) sensor out of range in Park-Transmissions

645 - Improper Gear Ratio In 1st Gear -OR- Transmission 1st gear failure

I would start by clearing the codes and see if they reset.

I am guessing this truck has an E4OD transmission. code 645 is most likely caused a broken spring for the 1-2 shift valve.

654 - MLP sensor not in park position.

sounds like code 634 and 654 are related to you moving or removing the MLPS.
go through the adjustment procedure and those codes should disappear.

Code 452 is the one you need to worry about. the PCM is not getting a signal from the VSS. either the sensor is faulty or there is a wiring problem.
