I'll be towing a 22ft deep V center console from virginia to vegas here soon....will this be hard on my 2008 F150 tranny/rear axle? anything i should watch for? I've never had to journey too far while towing my boat...maybe 70miles tops. my biggest concerns are the hills and mountains in virginia and then when i get west and the strain it will put on the truck.

 

Turn your overdrive off and don't go any faster than 65 mph.

 

i'll have the edge evo with the tow setting on....i assume i should still keep the o/d off?

 

Eng, trans, and rear specs would help to give advice as well as truck model and year

 

Your truck is made to tow. Just make sure your fluids are fresh, keep the OD off and have plenty of sunflower seeds...

Should be a good drive.

 

Yeah, post the specs on your truck. It should do fine, but I'd be curious if you have the factory towing package with tranny cooler.

With those specs you'll be fine. Like the others said, fresh fluids and keep OD off and you're good to go.

 

How do you all get the specs to show up on your signature line?

 

OD is fine as long as the combined condtions of your engine power, gearing, load, and road conditons don't cause the tranny to hunt between direct and OD.

No sense screamin' in direct gear in the flatlands.

Click on User CP at the top left and then on edit signature.

 

It's not the hunting from 3rd to 4th that kills the tranny - it's the torque converter running unlocked.
