trans flush vs filter change service

im sure theres a thread out there somewhere but can someone tell me the best way to go on this? my fluid was a little dark and i wanted to change, went for the filter/ pan/ cleanout which consisted of only 5 quarts changed, due im guessing to the torque converter and trans cooler lines etc. when they were done i told them i wanted it all changed and they said they would now flush it with a machine, im thinking this is a reverse flush? is this bad for the trans? i have heard it is whatcha think? my truck 05' fx-4 5.4 thanks!

It's impossible to reverse flush a transmission. Can't be done. A flush is a very good way to change all of the trans fluid, but it doesn't reverse flush. It changes the fluid with the flow going the way it normally flows.

Just don't let them use a solvent. Exchange the fluid only.
