Shudder/vibration on 1-2 shift, 2004

Hey guys,

I have a 2004 newer body style SuperCrew with 5.4L. My truck vibrates badly sometimes when shifting from 1-2. Anybody else had this problem? What can I expect to replace? Will my Extended Service Plan take care of it (truck is lifted on 295/60/20 tires)?

I had the trans fluid flushed and replaced about 5000 miles back and I'm pretty sure this vibration never happened before the flush.

Thanks!

Any transmission gurus out there? I'd like to have an idea of what's wrong before I take it in to the dealership.

Did the place that flushed it use true Mercon V or did they sell you on "We have an additive that makes it Mercon V"?

I'm fairly certain they used the right stuff - it was a decent sized Ford dealership.

Hmmm that bulletin doesn't cover 2004. I don't think that covers my problem, I get a pretty violent "washboard" vibration between 1-2. It seems to be pretty random, it might happen 3 times in one day then not happen at all for a week.

I get the same in my 2010 FX4. Taking it in soon. I get three bumps in the rear when I come to a stop as well. At 40 MPH if I encounter any upward grade, the tranny doesn't seem to know what it wants to do.

If the OD light is flashing, you need a dealer or tranny shop to read the codes.
