finned aluminum trans pan worth it?
finned aluminum trans pan worth it?
just curious if any of the aftermarket pans are wort the money. i know they hadd about a qt extra but would it really make that much of a difference? i guess the same question can he said for the rear end.
They do make a difference but in the case of your transmission you would be better off getting a good transmission cooler and get a finned cover for your rear diff. One or two extra quarts in a trans that holds 15 or more is nothing but an extra quart in a diff that holds 3 is a difference.
I am kind of on the side that they are a waste of money for most people unless you need one for a specific reason.
Just an opinion.
What I would do would be to improve the cooling system. IE: Get a better transmission cooler setup.

The one I bought from them only added 2.5 quarts.
More cooling for an automatic transmission IMHO is a better option over more fluid. As for a Differential I would take a girdle over a larger cover.

just be careful how cool you get it too, if you hit -40 like we do around here a big *** cooler will only compound your future problems. Have replaced 4 tranny's this winter alone from frozen external inline coolers. People forget its a radiator too and needs some covereage in the winter to eliminate freeze up on the highway.
Also 4R75W 2004+ Transmission in the F150s only holds about 12litres stock semi-dry. The 4R100 and 5R110 hold 14L+ depending on application.

It is the same rear end as the lightning. It holds up to a lot of abuse in stock form.
