What 'the guy' said isn't quite accurate. I honestly want to see him try to install any Crown Vic transmission into your 4x4 or vice-versa. Not going to happen because they won't bolt up.

Mechanically the transmission in a Crown Vic and in your truck are pretty much the same. As are a purpose built 800hp capable transmission of this model and the one that is in your truck now. The pretty much statement leaves a LOT of room to play though.

Actually there are several differences between the transmission that is in your truck and one from a Crown Vic. Starting with a different case and extension housing and ending with hardened internal parts on yours.

What I am saying is that what he said is very deceptive. If it were me, I would now have a very hard time trusting that guy ever again.

For $2600 you could have gotten a very well built beast of a transmission for your truck. You might have had to pay another $300-500 to get it installed, but for that money you could have gotten a transmission that would easily handle twice the power that a stock truck puts out and tow anything the rest of the truck can.
