Transmissions Shot PLEASSEEEE HELP

I have 04 screw 5.4 with 56,900 miles on it and ive been having problems with the tranny for about 3 weeks now and i dropped it off at ford and they said they couldnt find anything.

After that i brought it to my tranny guy and we took it for a test drive. i got on the highway got up to 60 than stepped on it was slipping like crazy as well as a rattle that rattled the whole truck. Now the guy said it was shot gear three and fours clutches are shot as well as the gear.

I was wondering should i bring it back to the original dealer where no problem was diagnosed or bring it to another dealer.

the only modifacation that would effect the tranny is 20" rims with 33's
i REALLY NEED SOME HELP please my warranty is up in about ten thousand miles.

What does BBB stand for?

BBB is the Better Business Beurau

yes i would tell the dealer exactly what the trans guy said was wrong with it, then i would offer to take the ford mechanic for a test drive.

I hate when dealers convienently can't find any thing wrong with a vehicle just because they don't want to fix it ... it's called customer service something this world is lacking

I dropped the truck off at another dealer this morning and ofcourse no one looked at it. the service manager said that they were going to diagnose the problem

the manager told me that if the tech has to crack open the tranny its gonna cost a thousand just to inspect it. does that sound wierd?

i have an Extra care warranty

$1000 to inspect it when you have a warranty? What a crock of BS! Go find yet another dealer.

I think if you are going to spend all that money try to upgrade the transmision like a different torque converte, clutches, seals everything you can get that on LEVELTEN.COM that happened to my truck i fixed and happened again then i decided to upgraded my tramsmision and is working so musch nicer than stock. Those ford tramsmision are suck specialy when you got any programmer and big tires, I will suggets you get an upgraded, if you keep the same is going to cause you the same problem.http://www.ford-trucks.com/article/i...n_Rebuild.html

There will be a new article on transmissions soon involving that truck. The one in that article has been taken out of the truck and replaced with something... better.

The holdup on the new article is that the torque converter that was used was a piece that was still in development stages and may need to come out to have some changes made for stall speed and drivability concerns over extremely agressive lockups. Lockup may be able to be addressed through tuning, but that is waiting on the owner of the truck to get his rear end rebuilt to get rid of excessive slop and noise.

Stay tuned.

Darrin

Just had the trans go at 70,000 mi. 2600.00 fix and the guy said this year and model have a Crown Vic tranny in them. How did Ford expect a car trans to pull a 4x4 off road truck without trouble.I`m half afraid to keep this one now.I drive in the sand alot.
