Where is the option for the ZF6?
In my opinion, the 4r100 is the best fit for all of your questions except for the paper weight one... that is probably the domain of the 4r70w.
The E4od, and 4r100 are essentially the same unit, with updated electronics in the newer 4r100 model. The 4r70w and the later 4r70e are also the same units. The 4r75e is a lighter duty transmission (same with the 70w/e) compared to the E4od/4r100.

Now wait a minnit! I thought the E4OD was simply a C6 with overdrive. Except it had electronic shifting controls. Now you say the E4OD is the same as the 4r100 except... well, you didn't say except what? Does that mean my C6 is as strong / trouble free as the 4r100? The same as the 4r100 except for OD and electronic control?
Does this mean my 4r70w is just a lightweight C6?
I'm confused! I wish I had no automatics! Only manuals!

No. The only thing the C6 and the 4R70W have in common is that both are automatic transmissions. The 4R70W has nothing else in common with the C6.

Honestly, I think the C6 is the strongest automatic transmission Ford made until the release of the 5R110 Torq-shift. If I were going to build up a drag racing car with a Ford motor in it, I would back it with a built C6.
The 4r70's are more or less based on the AOD trasmissions, which are loosely based on the C4 but with overdrive.
