Plastic Part in the Bottom of Tranny Pan
Plastic Part in the Bottom of Tranny Pan
So I was in the process of dropping the pan on my 2005 F-150 5.4L 4x4 and I hear a little clunk just as I'm about to loosen the last bolt on the pan to tip and drain the rest of the oil. It's a yellowish color, kind-of mushroom shaped with an o-ring on the "head" of it. I can't for the life of me find where it is supposed to reside. I've sepnt an hour on my back trying to figure out where it could have come from. I've dropped a lot of tranny pans in my day, but nothing like this has ever presented itself. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

OH NO! You just threw away the hig a ma jig, flux capacitor, whicha ma callit, pashotty valve plug! Your tranny will disappear in 48 hours if you do not reinstall it!
I wish I could see peoples face when they see that plug and can't figure out what it is for!

The first time I changed my trans fluid I read in my Haynes manual, so I was not surprised. But you are right, when someone drops the pan and sees parts falling out that can be nerve racking
