Identify this part in transmission pan

I found this in my trucks transmission pan when i dropped it down to change the fluid. (The part next to the magnet) It looks like a pressure regulating plunger or somethin

I thought maybe some one here may recognize it.

It's a '03 F-150 with the 4R70

Oh yeah, it shifts fine and has for the last 30K miles. I think maybe it has been there since it was put together.

Thanx

It's part of a special contest for Ford techs. Whoever finds that part wins $1 million! The catch is that it had to be turned in by August 1, 2007. Too bad!

Really, it's a plug from the dipstick tube. The trans is built without a dipstick, and that plug fills the hole. At the assembly plant the dipstick is pushed into the trans and the plug falls into the pan. Throw it away.

It's the plug for the dip stick tube from the factory and is popped into the pan when the dip stick is first inserted at the factory....

All it means is that your trans pan has never been dropped before and you are the first to find it!

Keep it as a souvenir and drop the pan every year from now on!

Mitch

EDIT... Oh heck..... 30k miles in 4 years..... I put on 20k miles a YEAR and tow a TT all summer long..... You don't need to do it every year.... Maybe every 15k miles just to do it....
