looking for decent offroad shocks

I have a 2008 lariat 4x4 with a 6" lift and the bilsteins that everyone seems to love, but theure way too stiff for me... im looking for something with a softer ride bad can still take a beating on rough roads where I live

Any suggestions?

Thanks, James

Maybe try out the ranchos worth the adjustable ride? You can make them softer or stiffer. Otherwise you could get some fox's or kings, then you just gotta get the valvung and stuff right. But even then, the thing about offroad shocks is they ride stiffer than street ones. What load range tires do you have? That can play a big part in how it rides too.

Which Bilsteins do you have? The 5100's or the HD's. I had the HD's on my lifted '01 and found them to be pretty decent ride quality wise. My 5100's are definitely a stiffer ride, and my Crosstek HD tires don't help.

Have the 5100s I'm looking for softer ride but I still like to hit the bumps from time to time and flex a little bit and I even jumped it one time and that was rough. ive heard good things about foa shocks any opinions on those? Im also not looking to break the bank so fox and king are out of my price range really. And which Ranchos are they?

Thanks for the help

5100's are the same as the hd's, just the hd's are for stock height applications.

Rancho 9000's.

From what I've read, FOA's aren't bad when your on a budget, they're kinda in the middle between bilsteins and then top of the line stuff like Fox's or King's. But with FOA's you'll have to take the time to tune them correctly, because iirc they aren't the adjustable **** type like the ranchos but rather take them apart, re-shim them, etc.

For off road you are running way too much psi.

I have said it before and will say it again. I don't regret the Rancho Quicklift itself, but the "loaded" part where they provide the spring, leaves a LOT to be desired... If you go with the Rancho Quicklift Loaded, I would strongly recommend you take them in and have good coils swapped in instead of what Rancho supplies...
