lift kit questions
Say whaaaat? Really? I put mine in first week of May. Sucks for the newer trucks then. For 04-08 trucks you do NOT have to weld anything. Just a little cut of the rear lower crossmember so you can drop the front differential. Guaranteed. I put my lift in and everything is good. (knock on wood).
You are correct... However... The Rancho is mountable 4.5-6.5.. Tested with 18in rims... I have 22's... My Stock 20's has 6.2 inches of backspace... Either way he's SAFE....
You can mount any wheel with less than the minimum required. For all the truck cares, you can go mount a wheel w/ 2" backspacing if you could find it in the proper rim diameter. 4.5" isn't a cut off

8" BDS is just a 6" kit with 8" struts...if any of you are trying to bump it to 10" it isnt possible unless you got a body lift....Just wanted to throw that out there as that has dissuaded a couple people from getting it on the other forum. RIZE's are just tough to get and are a pretty penny overall because most of the RIZE kits are only sold in front kits. You have to piece together the rear yourself or buy their rear kit.
Oh and dont go by the prices on the BDS website. Go to your local offroad shop that deals BDS/Zone stuff and they will give you a MUCH better deal. My kit priced out online was $2600 and I got it for $2100 at a local shop. I love my BDS kit though and am glad I got it. The only thing I dont like about it is the rear blocks arent tapered to correct the pinion angle. I will be getting the RCX 5.25" blocks that are tapered at some point.

Good luck trying to find a used RIZE. Not sure if a used kit is the best way to go but not my call. I know a couple guys are trying to find a RIZE kit on the other forum as well.
He mentioned RCX is what he wants, or what he saw so for that set up i do not believe it'd work. I might be wrong, but i'd do research if i was him before i bought that lift and found i was limited to 6" max.
For your pro comp go for it. Your angles shouldn't be bad, fx4 for life 79's 6" pro comp at 8" still almost had horizontal angles.

This statement is correct. With a 6" RCX or Zone lift you CAN NOT add more than 1.5" of extra lift to the front. The 6" lift only allows the front diff to drop 5". With only the lift you'll have the same angles that a truck with a 1" leveling kit will have.
If I had to lift an IFS truck again I'd go with BDS. You can get the basic lift from trucktoyzperformance for $2100. ProComp will give you the most "bang for your buck". It's around $1700 and the front cv's are at factory angle.
It is a very well built kit, but everyone says that about there kits.
I personally will never run rough country after all the horror stories i read about on 3/4 ton trucks with the welds just breaking from daily driver use. The extra $50-$100 to me is well worth it to buy a lift from a reputable company who has no major issues through out there line up.
BDS 8" is a 6" kit, so don't expect to go any higher. Keep that in mind before you buy.

I've found a used rize 8". I've been posting on the other forum and u have been helping over on that forum. Thanks btw! My user name is blacktoothgrin on the other forum. I've been posting n the rize 8 thread.
Oh no kidding..haha. Nice, and congrats on that good find then...Im assuming its just the front kit. All you need is some new leafs, shocks, and a driveshaft right?
