BDS lift?
Hey ya'll,
I've been debating on lifting my truck, after about 3 months of research I had settled on the fabtech; however, i decided to go ahead and try to get 8'' of lift so that I could clear 37's. After looking around i've decided the BDS 8'' is probably the way I wanna go, but i've got a few questions.
1) Anybody know what size rear block and add a leaf they have? I want to keep a little rake (maybe .5 to 1''), so I may wanna get a new block or another add a leaf
2) Since the kit includes longer struts for the 8'', I was wondering if I could stack the 2'' spacer I have on my truck now to get 10'' of total lift if I wanted.
2) With 10'' of lift could i clear 38's?
Thanks for your input!

BDS is the way to go. you will wait 5+ months for rize.
w/ a new longer strut, you can use a 2" spacer and get 10" of lift, with that much lift you can fit a 38" tire depending on wheel/tire combo. look at fx4 for life 79's rize thread, he's at 10" on 37's. aviator and fx4life have 10" and 38's IIRC
with 37+ tire you will need to regear the diffs to take the stress off the transmission. 4.88's are recommended.
how much installed are you looking at?

Well i'm still waiting to get some real call arounds to dealers for pricing. From other posts on here it seems dealers can get the BDS lift alot cheaper than off their website. I'm hoping for 2000-2200 for the lift max, i've heard of people getting them as low as 1600 on here. Install i'm hoping to be able to do myself, but we'll see how that works out if I get it ordered through a dealer.
Gears... wow, this is actually the next thing i'm gonna get for my truck. I was at least going to get 4.88 if I was looking into the 37's, but i'm almost leaning towards the 5.13 just to get a little extra low end umpf; and with the possibility of running 38's that might be a good idea. I'm actually going to gear swap prior to the lift, looking from 1200-1800 on gears yukon gears with master install kits and fluids.
Then i'll have to pick a set of wheels and tires.... lotsa decisions... glad i'm looking at this project at least a few months out so I can truly get my head around all of it.

you can get them made for the front diff. 2006jackedf150 had them but they are weaker than 4.88s. they failed in his front diff and broke it in half

you guys that had the BDS what were you running for wheels/tires? I'm trying to get an idea of a good offset width... i'm trying to keep the tires from sticking out more than 1-2'' without putting any bigger fender flares. i'll probably end up running a 37X12.50, but want them tucked in as tight as possible

Yukon does make a 5.13 reverse cut gear which will fit, however the pinion gear is small and if your going to be hammering on your truck you maybe replacing gears like 2006jackedf150.

17x9 w/ 4.5" backspacing
315/70/17 BFG AT's
heres a picture of my old truck.
tires stuck out a couple inches, i never had any issues with messing up my paint with them sticking out. gets dirty when its wet on the roads and throws mud all of it, but never scratching or damage.
