You can have one or the other, but you can't have both at the same time to get your extra lift What I mean is you can crank the coilovers to get your extra lift (this will harden up the ride a bit) or you could try putting the leveling kit on top of the un-cranked coilover (this will ride better). Cranking the coilovers and putting a leveling kit on for one probably wouldn't re-install and if you could get it in would put your front end geometry in such a bind it would be next to uselss (assuming its a 4wd, even though the angles are still terrible for a 2wd)..

There is always the body lift option I have never been a fan of body lifts though so I tend to avoid bringing them into any picture.

Looks like you wont be going any bigger than 37s than if you dont want a body lift unless you swap out your whole suspension with a bigger one.

Yah i doubt that but if someone has done it then correct me if im wrong. Check out dilloncawthon's truck on 41s on 11.5inches of lift. See how stuffed they are? I really dont know if 40s will fit with just 9 inches of lift.

Body lifts are not bad on our truck, you can barely tell sometimes. Everyone always forgets I have one on the truck

Why stop there? Go for the 12" Rize kit.

I could be wrong man. I think you are correct though. He did a lot of trimming to acheive it i believe.

I have to say a BL looks much better on the F-150 than on a Chevy 1500, but the front tow hooks still sit below the valance. With the fender gap gaurds and some steps it's not real noticeable. If there was a way to have the tow hooks stay in the same location on the valance it wouldn't bug me so much.

Getting back to the original subject I think a 6" lift + 2.5" spacer would be very close to 38's unless you will be off roading a lot flexing the front. On the set-up I had with 37's and a -25 offset wheel I had an inch to the closest point of rubbing.

I think i'm just going to go with a set of 37's and crank my coilovers. I'd like to try to the Kumho road venture mt...something that is not as loud on the road as these damn mud grapps. And since i dont wheel, the less aggressive tread might last a little longer.
