blocks question

I recently bought stock blocks off a 4x4 to go on my 2x4, my question is i noticed there are 2 bolts (not the ubolts) that run through the leaf springs on each side. Are they gonna work with the blocks? Wjat do i do?

its a 06 model

not sure which bolts you're talking about as i'm not looking at my axle, but i don't think you need to worry about them as they should not come into play with this install. i have an 06 4x2 and did this pretty quick and by myself. not sure what you've already read on here, but here's what i did: put a jack stand under the leaf spring on one side, i put it on the front side of the axle as close to the axle as i could. put a floor jack under the rear diff and jack it up to make contact with the pumpkin. take off the wheel (gives you more room to work and lets you separate the axle and spring). remove the nuts from the ubolts on that side and remove the old ubolts. slowly lower the floor jack until you can fit the block. raise the jack back up until the block seats. this may require some creative rocking and shaking of your truck or maybe just a good hammer. use the longer ubolts from the kit and the factory mounts that came loose after the old ubolts were removed. repeat on the other side. all done.

also, take a look at this post by janos: https://www.f150online.com/forums/su...k-install.html

one last thing, my ride is pretty rough. you may want to look into longer shocks that you could install at the same time. good luck and shoot me any questions.

They are not "bolts" they are just used to keep the block in place with the leaf springs and axle.

So once i take them off, i dont need to put them back on?

I dont think the springs will seperate from the axle without them off?

sure thing. i think the bolts you are looking at hold the bracket for the ubolts. it does not need to be detached. just the nuts off the ubolts and then the bottom bracket that straddles the axle will fall off when the axle separates and the ubolts are off. just put it back in place when you bolt the longer ones on and seat the ubolts in the two v channels on the top of the leaf spring bracket.

nope. put the jack stands under the leafs, put a jack under the diff and then remove the tire. now, take the nuts off the ubolts and then lower the diff to separate the axle from the leafs. do one side at a time.

If it's a factory setup... They should only be through the springs themselves... If the previous owner has modified it may be different... I suggest a picture so that we may see.

And YES you'll want longer shocks... I put 3" blocks on my 2wd and immediately I noticed this need... by shocks would clang really loud when extended... the ride was horrible... There are a set of bilsteins on there in the back now that were designed and intended for the 4wd... they fit perfectly...

I don't have a pic to show you, but there should be plenty on this forum, and if you reference the thread above that might help too...

Good luck!

Islandford: We discussed longer shocks in the past... Let me just say.... It was worth it... I got the 5100's that were listed for the 4wd (with 1-2" of lift) which was perfect for my 3" block... Shocks look awesome, easy to install, and ride like a dream! I'm thinking about doing the fronts now with the 4wd 5100's... it should work

that's awesome man, i really need to do that. if you get the front done, let me know how it ends up. i may do the same thing. so the bilsteins for a 4wd with 1-2" lift huh?
