in my judgement im going to say this is not true im not sure on your truck seeing how its older.....alot of mech.changes have been made since then . but seeing how on a 4x4 susp. lift you incorporating another differential and alot of other parts as compared to a 2wd that has a straight shaft that will take alot less to lift in the air. ive never heard of a 4x4 lift being universal to a 2wd truck, but good luck to you

I"ve heard that the Chevy HD 2500 4x2 trucks can be lifted using kits for a 4x4. I don't think this will work on your Ford.

isn't the front of the frame different?

and also if your wanting a 4" lift kit for a 4wd on your 2wd you would get 6" of lift if it was to work, which you could just get a 6" 2wd kit and sit how a 4" lift 4x4 would be

also there is a thread with the height of our trucks, im at like 45 3/4 w/ my 6" 4x4 lift and wxscpo is at 43" or so with his 2wd w/ a 6" lift

no it wont work.

just get a 2wd lift. they are cheaper anyways 6" lift and 33's on a 2wd wont look that bad and it will give you room for growth

X2. I think you'lll be happy you went with the 6" lift. I have a 2wd (OBS) with 6" lift and I run 33's with it and I think it looks great.

From 1980-1996, this is true that you can put a 4x4 lift on a 2wd, because the frames are the same. From 97 up, they have different frames for 2 and 4 wheel drives. Hope this helps.
