How did/does everybody pay for Lifts?

I don't think this one has been addressed;

I really want to lift my truck, but damn it is so pricey (sus lift, tires, rims, gears, etc.) just to look good and eat fuel faster!!!

So what did ya'll do to make your trucks look soo good?

Are the owners of lifted truck, just more well off then the stockers?
Lifted owners fell into some money and had nothing better to spend it on (i.e. income tax)??

So please tell me your story:

Agreed. I have always wondered the same thing. I wanted a lift kit and wanted to do it the legit way but it ended up costing wayyyy too much. Yet I see them all around looking badass..sucking fuel..bastards

i saved and saved my money. on my first truck i didnt touch it because i knew i was buying a 4x4 for my next truck. worked about 20-25hrs a week and did not spend any of it. my dad spotted me about a $1000 when i lifted and i had him paid back within 2 months. total i paid 3550 for lift, wheels, tires.

i also made $500 off stock wheels/tires. so selling your stock parts will help you out.

Like you said, everything cost. That's why I went with a body lift and installed it myself.

Well i Worked, Worked, Worked, and worked some more...often times neglecting school so i could work (bad idea). I saved everything, cut out all the unnecessaries like partying, going out a ton, and booze. Stopped eating out every other day and everyday at lunch. I had a regular retail job as a freight team supervisor payin 12 bucks an hour, took all the OT i could too. Some weeks i worked everyday. I went almost a month and a half last summer without a day off but i elected to take all that OT. when i was not doing that i took every odd construction, landscaping, mowing job i could.

Living at home and having little to no bills also helped. They also bought the truck as a HS senior present and since i was going off to school it would be more reliable than my 99 dodge. All mods where on me though. School is payed for by my family so are most of my expenses (gas, insurance, phone, etc...), as long as im in school and have good grades (keep GPA above 3.2--personal goal)

Id still be going strong with a job except i left that place when chit hit the fan and it started on a downward tumble. Im no spoiled brat though, i worked my *** off for alot of the things ive got and know the meaning of having a good job and working hard. I do have an issue with saving money though.... thats how i do it (did it)

It really comes down to saving up over time for most people.

Took me two years of working 30 hours a week driving my xl work truck with roll down windows and no ac till I could afford to buy my new truck. And I just recently bought all my mods for it not less then a week ago.

Living at home with only a few bills helps a lot also. My only expenses at the moment are truck payments, fuel and food.

I guess I will have to save up like everybody else. But saving is so hard when my wife goes to school full time and I work to pay for everything (i.e. house her truck, my truck, all house bills, etc.) I wish I would have been into trucks when I was younger so my truck would already be the way I want it. back when I had no bills/obligations. Oh well

Tell her to pull some of her own damn weight! I worked while in school full time, my wife worked while she was in school too. No reason yours can't. She'd better get a high-paying job when she's done if you're paying for everything now.

As most everyone else said, you work hard and save up. Sure, some kids on this site come from money and their parents give them whatever they want. No high school kid can afford a new truck with a 6" lift, new wheels and tires, etc, but they're out there.
