Write-up: Auto Spring 2.5" Leveling Kit Install
well, I attempted the install today but was unsuccesful, I couldn't break the ball joint loose with a hammer, the pitman arm puller i used was a little too small so long story short I used a pickle fork to try and seperate it and tore the boot around the ball joint, does anyone know if this part is readily available? Ill have to find the right pitman arm puller and give it another try another day.

I just finished my level on a 2wd with the 2.5 A.S. Level Kit following these directions, to make note of some of my issues It took about 2 hours 15 min to complete start to end. My first issue was i used a 15mm speed wrench instead of a socket for the spring bolts, second i didn't have the pittman puller so i used the hammer and it popped right off both sides, and lastly since it was just myself i used the floor jack to raise the a arm to the upper ball and that was about it. I did have the problem with the ball joints spinning top and bottom but without holding them i used an impact and it took care of it with no hassle. Thank you for the write up and i hope its as smooth for everyone else.
Where did you get the kit from? I have an 06 FX4 supercab, and ive been wanting to do this, but i didn't know it could be done so cheep. Plus I was afraid my stock tires would look goofy, but it looks good on that truck. Nice job!
Great Help!
I just wanted to say thanks for this post. I just installed a 2.5" AS kit on my truck and it couldn't have gone smoother. I probably could have done with the supplied instructions but the having more detailed info and pics made it a breeze!
HA HA. That help bring up my confidence and kinda scares me. Seems like alot of work that i'm about to get myself into. I will be putting my 3" on in a few days

Nice work. I'll be using this in about a week. I'll be installing the ReadyLift 3" Level Kit (which is an identical install). My only concern is getting out of the garage....it's close as it is.
Opinions on rear level kits. Block or AAL? I'm leaning towards RL's 3" (which is actually only 1") Block lift.

Has anyone noticed that the '04s, like the one this write-up was done on (I think) can have a 2.5" spacer and the CV is just a little off from being parallel to the ground? And that the later year model trucks can have a 2" spacer and be at more of an angle? Take for instance ab46501's picture and compare it to the OP's on the first page.

I agree it looks more of an angle in my pic than the one of the first page. Could the angle of the camera be the difference? When comparing the angle to the strut it doesn't seem as much off? My sway bar attchment was also slightly different than the one on the first page. Maybe ford changed some things after 04?
