Does a lift void Factory Warranty?

I have been told that adding a lift kit such a the 6" fabtech will void the factory warranty... Is this true or is it only partial warranty on those parts affected by a lift?

Thanks.

According to the Magnuson/Moss Warranty Act, only the parts changed by the lift would be affected. However, some dealers will try to void your entire warranty.

If your dealer tries to void your entire warranty if you get a lift you should look for another dealer.

Since I broke my arm I have been writing/submitting warrenties for John Deere and from what I can tell the warrenty is only as good as the person that writes the claim and the dealer that does the warrenty. The best thing to do is talk to your dealer and see what he says. Some will void the entire drive train b/c it put extra stress on these parts but the only way to tell is ask your dealer.

If you install a lift on your truck and your driver's window quits working, no.

If you install a lift on your truck and the ball joints wear out prematurely, yes.

Legally, the dealer/manufacturer has to provide proof that the modifications caused the failure in question. Unofficially, it depends on your dealer. Some are more generous with warranty repairs than others. A lot of dealers won't be in a big hurry to work on lifted trucks though, just because they're harder to work on. I don't like having to use a step ladder to climb up in the engine compartment of a truck to fix a driveability problem or do engine work or anything like that.

The problem is some dealers will cover your ball joints with a 6 inch lift and other's will refuse to warranty your power windows because of a lift kit.

Well, My lower ball joints need replacing. I went 2 different dealers and had no luck . I`m not covered due to my lift. At least they were nice about it. Got quote $ 700 for 2 ball joints & wheel alignment. Is that a good price?

yea, its kind of high, the alignment is about 70, the parts about 250. and labor about 200, so about 500 is tops i would say, 700 is high

I thought that was a little steep. Found the ball joints on rock auto.com for 40 bucks each. I can do the labor part. But heard those lower ball joints are b#@! to take apart. I might tackle it myself.

EZ way to separate them from the upper/lower arms is to use 2 ball-pein hammers and hit them at the same time directly across from each other where the ball joint is seated in the arm. It may take 2 or 3 tries, but when you hit it just right at the right time, it will pop right out...

Thank`s for the info. I went to a local auto shop (father & son- Been around for years). Parts $83 Labor $200 Wheel Al. $50.

This is going off the subject of this thread.
Spinnintires- Just for the fun of it I put my spacer back on (2.5").B-4 I get the ball joints replaced. And had it alin`d . Noticed some play in the steering. Do you have the same issue. And have you replace your ball joints. If so how long till they went out. Thanks
