4inch bodylift?
Is there such a thing? I saw a guy yesterday with a pretty nasty looking 01-03 supercrew on 35" BFG m/t's when I asked him how much lift he was running he replied "4 inches". I then asked who the lift was by, and he said "performance acc.". I told him I didnt know they made suspension lift he said "its not its all body." I have never heard of a 4 inch body lift let alone one by PA was he pulling my leg or am I just out of the loop?

Thats what I thought, but he had enough room between the top of the frame and the bottom of the bumper to simply flip his tow hooks to the top of the frame, it looked normal. Its hard to explain but imagine looking at your frame from the front tow hook; upside down. thats gotta be alot of space.

Ok I saw the same guy today and actually looked under the truck. He has a 3" lift ontop of his stock body spacers, and insted of using the 2"metal spacers under the bed they used the full 3" body spacers to make the cab and the bed even it was really quite clever. Though Im not sure how safe that would be. He still had to cut his front bumper but it look good. I like the look but that just seems like a big gap for those little bolts to handle.

Body lifts cause extra stress on the body (lighter sheetmetal than the frame) side of the mount. 3" has been the accepted max from many years - I've seen a few homemade 4" BLs, but unless you are talking a huge body (controls the leverage better) like a Suburban, you are begging to cookie cutter the sheetmetal. There's a bunch of other details that would be an issue as well. Like everybody is saying, sounds like a normal 3" BL... that is a lot of space if a guy doesn't move the bumpers very well or use some gap guards to cover the big hole in the wheel well.
Lift laws vary in every state and the police have little idea or understanding. Be prepared to stumble across ignorant officers with attitudes that will want to give you trouble - the best offense is a strong defense, keep a copy of your state's laws in the glove box. If you get stopped, you can show the officer the law (including the #) and verify your lift. I've never had a ticket for a lift and I have several that exceed the WI laws for normal titles... I run "Hobbyist" plates which get around the lift sections of the law.

I don't doubt it. I saw a 69 Camaro body mounted on a 4x4 frame at the beach and it had to have sat a good 12 inches off the frame. Basically a 12 inch body lift!!!
