Broken Sway Bar End Link (01 4x4)

Broke the pass. side sway bar end link. I have cranked the torsion bars about 4 turns and I'm running 33's...other than that, I don't know what might have caused this. I only have 70K mi. Any ideas?

Anyway, what is the proper procedure & torque specs for replacing these? I'd think it would need to be resting on the tires, but will I have enough room with them on? How do you draw the sway bar back down to where it needs to be? I bought both side replacements from the stealership for $60. They wanted $210 installed.

Thanks guys!!!

Unless you have the unbroken side disconnected it (the sway bar end) should be pretty much sitting where it needs to be. If it isn't you have additional problems to deal with.

If it is disconnected, you should be able to force it down by hand, it shouldn't be easy, but it should be possible.

Thanks man, just checked, it's only about an inch above where it should be so I'm good. Gonna take a crack at it on Sat. if it would ever stop raining.

I cranked them clockwise to gain about a 2" "lift". This was year ago and no problems. Are you saying to jack up the control arm to raise it to the sway bar?

Ye If It Goes Up And Still Does Not Reach Then You May Have A Bent Sway Bar You May Have To Push It Down A Littel To But Not Much

No offense, but your asking for torque specs on something you just bent 1/2" out of spec.

Didn't bend anything, so no offense taken.
