spindle lift question???

I'm new to this forum and have a question I hope you can help me with. I have a 2wd 98 Expedition and I'm looking at two lift kits. All I'm looking for is raising it up a few inches to clear likely a 295/75/16. I want to acheive the look and more clearance. The kits I found where on E-bay. One a spidle lift and the other a upper A-arm kit, both with coil spacers in the rear. Has anyone used either of these kits and if so, what are your thoughts? I appreciate the assistance.

Several members here and at FTW have lifted their 4x2 F-150's and Expy's with spindle lifts. Just make sure you get a spindle from a quality manufacturer like Doestch, Pro Comp or Fabtech. Stay away from anything made by AIM/Chasis Tech or any of the other names they use.

do NOT use the control arm kits. they come with crap balljoints that give out an the welds on all of the control arm kits but CST (the best out there) are very suspect (especially fabtech, my old ones gave out, fabtech sucks)

I appreciate the quick response. This forum is extremely informative and I've had a ton of questions answered.
I think I'll buy the kit from Suspension Max. That seems to be the best quality for the price. It appears to be rather straightforward with the installation.

that's where I got mine and have been quite happy with it. Keep in mind you will have to buy new shocks for the front at a minimum. Install takes about 5-6 hours if you take your time like I did, then an alignment afterwards. If you're looking on Ebay, stay away from AIM or Rough Country spindles which are made by AIM, some members here have installed them with no issues, but why risk it? I know the Suspension Max spindles are made by Doetsch.

Thats good news to hear. I do have another question. Where you happy with the rake of your truck and approximately how much did it actually lift your truck? I have 265/70/16's now, and was looking into running a 285/75/16 or 295/75/16 which if I have researched correctly, would give me an additional 2.5-3.5 inches of lift. Does this sound like a good combination or have you tried something similar?

The lift gave me about 3.5" all said and done and it sits perfectly level front to back. As for tires, 285/75 16 is about as big as you can go, and even with that you'll have to trim the plastic on the front bumper.
