Just one of the many things I like about the truck...... among others like the 2 tone paint, FX4 package.

PS Don't let "Big Daddy Whiteboy" see that pic, seems he believes it to be "CANDYASSED" .... ROFL

Other than a weatherstrip on driver door that comes off the only problem after 33000 miles on my 01 4x4 is the hairline scratches in the black paint from driving through brush to find elk! I love this truck!

I hear gleninAZ ya on the scratched paint. Not chasing elk just having too much fun!

I also have the weather strping on the driver side door come lose all the time, just push on it with the palm of my hand every now and then.

I had to have the rearend rebuilt at 4,710 mi. I heard a whine at highway speeds. Took it in for Ford to look at, two days later it was fixed and I haven't had a problem since. Didn't cost me a dime, Ford even provided the rental car.

Transmission problems, differential problems, stereo system problems, power window problems ... other than that ... 32, 000 trouble free miles.

Too bad, because I really did like the vehicle. Now, I have well founded concerns about long term reliability. Especially with the warranty expiring in 4000 miles.

For details see my recent post titled "Transmission Shudder / Differential Vibration" on this board.

Yeah I got problems!
The truck is now at the dealer at only a year and half old getting completely repainted because there is thousands of micro cracks. I caught it 500 miles before it was out of warranty. I'm finding lots of other people with the same problem. BEWARE OF BLACK and BLUE. I haven't heard of any other colors with this problem. I'd really be ticked if I caught after the 36k mark. GOOD LUCK!

Hey now. I could install that little switch up on my dash and make it look just like yours. Well, it'd look like yours until you looked UNDER my truck and realized that the switch served absolutely no purpose. LOL!

Now that is a Ricer mod if I ever saw one. next you'll be putting the VTEC lights on the dash

Don't forget to put the big as your head tach on top of the dash, with the wires runing down the defrost vent to complete the look ( even though you have a tach in the cluster..that is just the way they do it ).

@700 miles,
Oil seal of axel drive pinion leaked then fixed.

1 week later seal leaked again, this time all the fluid drained completely onto the freeway, axle housing assembly defective, ring gear and pinion set destroyed, pinion bearings destroyed. silicone gasket destroyed. I told them I knew about the CA Lemon Law, Ford dealer towed truck 45 miles all expenses paid. Apology from service manager.

@1400 miles, driver side power window speed began to slow. Dealer lubricated window and problem fixed.

The following week, same window slowed down. Currently, window is still unfixed.

currently @ 7200 miles, and no problems.

Thumbs up

I love my truck. Just wished I had 3.73s, and a blower. I replaced my IAC awhile back due to an intermittant stall. Hasn't did it since. 18 000 Kilometers. My only other problem is the price of gas. 80 cents per liter and climbing.

Hey Whitestx,

What speed(s) did your truck whine at? My 03 Screw does it (really noticeably) between 50-53 MPH. Above and below that speed you cant really hear it. I fear my rearend is shot and may need to be rebuilt as well. I plan on taking it in sometime this month. Hopefully it will not blow b4 then.

TIA,

Jim

01 SCrew with 28k miles and only two minor issues. Had to fixe the lumbar mechanism and have a very small place where rivers side leather is coming apart. Not impressed with the leather in the truck, but otherwise I love it.

Spoke too soon. Just had a little rain and engine lurched and started missing. 36050 miles! Cost $250 to replace #2 coil and plug and diagnostic. Just had the truck in to dealer 2 weeks before for service and gluing weatherstrip on driver door. What's with the coil getting shorted by moisture? Can you waterproof each coil? Scratches are getting worse in black paint after goose season but turkey is coming up so who cares.
