Is the foot vibrator standard equipment?
Is the foot vibrator standard equipment?
I've had my SuperCrew for about three months and like most everything about it. But there's something I'm curious about. Is the foot vibrator a SuperCrew exclusive or is it standard on all F150s? I've checked the owner's manual and the window sticker but neither mention it so I'm asking here.
The Ford engineers were pretty ingenious, they built it into the gas pedal. And they made it variable, correlated to the rpms, I guess because you need more relaxation when you're in traffic. When I'm accelerating up the onramp my foot is vibrating like my 2 year old on the trampoline, but even at highway speeds there is that little buzz through my Nikes. I've got to admit, sometimes it is kind of pleasant but usually it's just annoying, so I try to use the cruise control whenever possible. Is there a switch that allows me to turn if off?
This is the first American car I've ever owned and I'm surprised that Honda and Toyota haven't incorporated the foot massager into their gas pedals. But, while driving Civics, Tacomas and Odysseys for the last 17 years I had nothing but blissful silence underneath my right foot.

dufunnel swings! It's back, back...the Leftfielder is to the warning track...it's oughta here!
but wait. The third base umpire had waved off the pitch. No pitch ladies and gentlemen. Apparently a beachball had come onto the field from the right bleachers.
Actually, that vibration has been good for the economy. The word is Bud Selig was sitting in traffic surrounded by American V8's,when he got the idea for the Baseball Bobble-Head Dolls.

OK, I see both you guys are from the south so I'm not going to be too harsh about your reading comprehension skills. Note that I said I've never OWNED an American vehicle, I did not say that I have never DRIVEN an American vehicle, nor did I say anything about ever driving a V8. In fact, I've driven a V8 Tundra, a V8 GMC, a V8 Suburban, a V8 LandCruiser, a V8 Sequoia and a V8 Mercedes Benz. NONE of these vehicles has had the foot vibrator effect that I find annoying in the SuperCrew. It has nothing to do with the jr. high school macho posturing that is so common on this forum, it is poor engineering and poor design. The accelerator pedal can and should be isolated from engine vibrations. Other manufacturers do it routinely, why not Ford?
Well I have the 5.4 in my SCREW and don't notice any vibration in the gas pedal, at least nothing anoying. A little bit is expected as there is a cable connected to the... engine...
Now when the brake pedal is vibrating that may be a bad thing.

I have never noticed what you're referring to. The only reason my supercrew is louder at all than one of the ricer Civics on the road is that I have a decent exhaust system on a V8, and not a 1" tailpipe coming out of an inline 4 cylinder.
