Common Good? When the government decides what the common good is for all, you have Socialism. No thanks. Leave that crap for the liberals to try to justify. You don't like my tinted windows (legal in my state) TOUGH. Perhaps we should all be driving Yugo's, Beast Rider. The "common good" would be well served in the preservation of natural resources. Perhaps we should not be allowed to own SUV's, as the "common good" would be served by everyone having an equal chance of living or dying in a car accident. We now have the government (here) telling us that bicycle helmet are mandatory for anyone on a bike. Look very soon for the "common good" ****'s to be regulating the emissions from your lawn mower, and the fat content in your Big Mac. Anyone want to talk about CAFE standards and the "common good"? It's already happening. What a wonderful world we live in!

We've got lots of laws for the common good, and none of them have anything to do with socialism. For example, we agree to drive on the right hand side of the road. We agree to stop when lights are red and go when they are green. We agree to be bound by speed limits. We agree that my dog can't sh*t in your yard at will, nor keep you up all night barking. None of this has anything to do with socialism. It has everythingto do with providing the social "grease" necessary for us to function as a society.

You are correct, there are excesses in trying to make the world a better place to live for us and our children. But, there have been excesses the other way as well. Would you go back to the days of rivers so polluted you couldn't go near them? Do you condone the greed heads who carre nothing for environment or for their effects on their fellow man? Do you really want to have your grand kids wearing tin suits and gas masks because air pollution is out of control?

This is the age old question of arriving at a suitable compromise between the needs of society and the rights of the individual... argued extensively in the Federalist papers, and ever since. When it comes to the law, I say two things to you. First, if you don't like the law, then change it... yes, there are people out there who want me to ride the bus... and they work for their goals... if I care enough, I best get off my *** and do something to stop them... but for too many, this kind of action gets in the way of watching TV. Second, if you choose to break the law, then you must be willing to accept the consequences.

Maybe you are a great driver, but I tell you, I've had it with incompetent, chickensh*t drivers who don't give a damn about anything or anybody else... they bloddy well dare you to get in their way... then they make it doubly difficult for a person to tell if they are paying any attention by covering their windows in impenatrable film. What I'd like to do is shoot holes in these SOB's "rides" with my pistol, but unfortunately, that, too, is illegal. Oh well...

Peace, brother.

I don't wish bad on people and never will. I wish you can come to NYC and see what we go thru on a daily basis. see the destruction that has happened. people who are working at ground zero are getting sick, the air quality is bad, but wait," THE GOV'T SAYS IT'S OK". believe that, well than i have a bridge you can jump off. as far as guns, I have lived here my whole life, seen em, had em shot at me, pointed to my head and i am still here. so tell it somewhere else cause in a real city we don't fear em. change laws i find that comical. it's all about who you know, that's how it is. by now i would have thought that you knew that but i guess that bit of info hasn;t reached you out in the pasture. gitty up cowboy!!!!!

A friend of mine tinted the front window of his Dodge Ram and on the way home from the shop he got pinched.

The Cop said he wouldnt give him a ticket if he pealed it off right then and there, so he did.

Doesnt that just suck...

Exclamation

Since when did this become the "political rant, rave and tyrade bull****" thread? I thought this was about tinting windows!!!

If you don't have anything constructive to add to the thread:
1. Shut the f... up!!
2. Scream at your monitor!!
3. Sit there quietly, hit backspace and move on to the next topic
4. Start your own thread about "My daddy can kick your daddy's *** because... and my **** is bigger than yours, etc...etc...etc....

The concept is simple, add something if you can help someone out. Don't if you can't. Quit your freakin' whining. Go to another board if you want to bitch about the government. Here we talk about badd **** trucks!!!! Period!!!!!!

Yeah, our education. I didn't know I was writing a novel. It's a website. Guess you didn't figure that out either. Just keep on being a good little boy like mommy told you to. I wonder, by your age you should have been drafted for Vietnam. Did you dodge the draft? Things that make you go HMMMMMMMMM! By the way you write I would guess so.

My God! Listen to you people. You're missing turns and whole blocks because of the dark tinting! Isn't that enough of a reason to follow the law?

The bottom line is, do whatever the hell you want, but be prepared to pay the consequences. If you get a ticket because the tint is too dark for your state, then accept it. If the insurance company refuses to indemnify you because of the window tint, accept it. If you get sued because you ran into a kid because you couldn't see out the side, then accept it. If you tell people to put tint on their front windows and they get into a accident because of it, then accept the fact that it was your fault for suggesting that it was safe.

Look at it this way. If there weren't any laws on window tinting, then what's to prevent somebody from blacking out all their windows? Clearly (pun intended) there's got to be some kind of standard, n'est ce pas?

I agree with the fact that somebody should except the consequences of their actions. when people over tint they know the risk. That is all. if i like tint and say so and somebody with tint goes and runs a kid over I have no blame in that. that will not stand up in a court of law. that i am sure of. i.e. if you tell somebody to jump off the bridge does that make you an accessory to the crime no. people make their own choices. I just don't believe in wishing bad upon somebody because they differ in opinion and it does/ doesn't break the law.that is all. you disagree/ agree fine. you have the right to an opinion, but to wish tickets on somebody is just stupidity!

Actually, I believe if you give advice to somebody and it causes an accident or they get tagged, you can be held liable and even if not, you can still be dragged into court which will cost you money.

The point I'm making is you guys gotta be careful about the kinds of advice you're giving especially if it concerns a legal issue. To advise somebody to do something that is illegal or questionable is doing a disservice.

Sorry if I ruffle some feathers here, but thems the breaks. It's the way it is in the real world. What you say can cause problems for others and all I'm saying is you need to be aware of that at all times.

Do what you want, but there are consequences if you do the wrong thing. That's the point some of us have been trying to make here. I guess some of us are older than others and have much more life experience and have seen and/or experienced things some of you haven't.

I would really hate it if somebody takes some of your advice and tint their trucks really dark and end up killing somebody because of it. I'd feel bad if I hadn't at least spoken up as I am now.

don't get me wrong I am not in favor of blacking my windows out. just enough so my daughter doesn't go blind from the sun in her car seat in the back. I never said run out and tint black. I just said I would tint em. I have experienced a lot in my life and I am sure that you experienced more than I. when you are young it's a cool thing to black the windows out, but I am not young anymore.

as far as the responsibilty of somebody telling another person to tint, there is no responsibility. it may cause you trouble in some way but there is no legal stand point to go from. I am almost positive of this but would have to check the books. different states may be an issue. I will find the answer and post it.

But it doesn't matter, I started this because one person wished bad on another (tickets) which I don't think is right. what goes around comes around. thats all.

Talking Rodney King

Thinking of those famous words of Rodney King,

"can't we all just get along"
