Question How much gas do you take??

Wondering how much everybody's truck takes to fill the tank. I've run my S-CREW to what the fuel gauge call empty (light comes on) but when I go to fill up it only takes a little over 21 gallons. The specs say I have a 25 gal tank. Is the gauge that far off? Maybe Ford intended to have the gauge read empty when you have 3-4 gallons left. Would appreciate input from others.

I have run my tank to the red for a little while and yes, Ford does give you a bit of a warning before running out of gas. I put in almost 23 gallons after being on red for close to 15 or 20 miles.

So when the light comes on, you can guess that you have around 3-4 gallons like you said. It's time to find a gas station. Don't run your tank dry though as that is really bad for fule injection and the fule pump.

How much gas?

The warning light is a LOW Fuel warning, not an out-of-fuel warning. I foolishly ran mine down below the red mark this past Sunday (pulling the boat, no less!) and put in 23.59 gallons so I had 1.4 gallons left in the tank, which was probably barely wetting the bottom of the tank! I think the low fuel light came on about 30 miles before that so I'd say that 3-4 gallons or 30-40 mi is about right for the low fuel warning. Mine's a 4x2 5.4L so your mileage may differ if you have a 4x4.

I had my low fuel light come on 3 miles before I filled the tank with 24 gallons.

I have you all beat:
I ran out last week in my Screw, and drifted into the station just as the engine died. It took 27.0 gallons to bottle neck it. I never want to cut it that close again.

Most I've put in is just shy of 22 gallons, with the warning light on. Somewhere in the owner's manual, it tells you how many gallons you have remaining when the fuel light comes on (I think the manual says 3, but not sure).

I got caught far away from a station last week (my fault...) and made it in on fumes. Took 25.01 gallons...whew!
