Question Survey Time: Generation I, II, or III SCrew owners

I'm looking for a little Friday diversion so here goes my question.

Which generation of SuperCrew do you own? What I mean is, was your SCrew born...

(Generation I) before 7/10/00 which had Amazon Green as a paint choice

(Generation II) after 7/10/00 which included remote entry, automatic headlights, and leather wrapped steering wheel on XLTs with Deep Wedgewood Blue and Dark Highland Green as paint choices but lost Amazon Green

(Generation III) born sometime around November and included the new seats with rear head restraints, seat heat, and ORP option ?

If I've left anything out in the distinction between the three, please make addendums.

I'm a Gen. II here. I would have waited a month for a Gen. III but my salesman said there wouldn't be any changes coming up. Maybe Ford didn't tell the dealers.

The GO 4D IT SuperCrew '01 SuperCrew XLT 4x2 (second generation): 5.4L, Limited Slip, Black, 5-Spoke Rims, Dark Cloth, Capt. Chairs, Power Seat, Steps, Extender, Moonroof, 6-disc manual CD changer; Ford/Duraliner, '86 Mustang rear mats as humpmats.

(for sale) The GO 4D IT Ranger: '93 Ranger XLT SuperCab 4x2: 65K miles; 4.0L; Limited Slip; Black; Alum. Rims; A.C.; Power windows, mirrors, and locks; CD Player; Hard Tonneau; Running Boards.

"First On Race Day" I used to root for the Valvoline car and the Ford Credit/Quality Care car. Now I have to root for the Viagra car and the UPS car. What's the world coming to?

I'm a happy Gen I owner myself.

At some point (Gen II?) they changed the recommended oil from 5W-30 to 5W-20.

I got Generation III. I'm very glad, and wasn't expecting it. (Indeed, even the dealers didn't know the change was coming). I wouldn't be too bummed, though, if I had Generation I or II. These are awesome trucks.

Gen II

I use my truck pretty hard and the back seat is rarely up so it suits me just fine although I feel a little had that they made changes after the year model split that made me wait an extra month for mine.

Mine's a Gen II, but...

(Generation II) after 7/10/00 which included remote entry, automatic headlights, and leather wrapped steering wheel on XLTs with Deep Wedgewood Blue and Dark Highland Green as paint choices but lost Amazon Green

I did not have Chestnut as a paint choice, and my XLT has leather-wrapped wheel and remote entry, but no auto headlights. It was born in early September 2000.

I must say that the truck has been flawless to this point. I have 5900 miles on it, and have never owned a better vehicle. For years I swore that I would never own a pickup, but I'm glad I changed my mind; I love my truck!

I have a Gen II. And I waited 5 months for that.Ordered 4/28,Delivered 9/25. Knowing what I know now about the Gen. III, I think I would have waited another month just because of the back seat design. I have 2 young children, and it concerns me very much. The only difference that I would have received from a Gen I to a Gen II was the leather wrapped steering wheel. I had ordered the keyless remote anyhow, and I don't have the auto light feature because I don't have a power drivers seat.

Anyhow, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I'm Gen III, and I know...or at least I've prepared myself for it...lol, that some day they'll make a change that I wish I had.

However, I think I'll probably have this truck for at least 10 years like my last truck (which I really didn't care for from day 1, but it was what I could afford at the time ). I too would have been disappointed to hear about the headrests right after I got mine, but what the heck, ALL new seats would still be less expensive than an ALL new truck...lol.

So, if they do make some changes that I just have to have on my truck, I'll weigh the choices, and spend the money if I want it that badly. They're all great trucks!

I have the Gen 3 Screw and it is Dark Highland Green with Silver two tone. I have the Lariat 4x4 with PBE, tow p, pbe, off road w/skids, lsd, and six pack CD. I'm unable to wipe the grin off my face when I'm driving it. I waited a long time to buy a truck and I'm glad I did. This is the one I waited for and now we'll see how it does over the long haul. MY next truck will be a 2010 model.

Gen III by a whisker,

I've never heard of TWO er Mid Year ? updates to a vehicle before. Mine must have been JUST after the Gen III transition. VOPC locked it in for manufacturing for the week of 10/28/2000 and the build date on the door sticker shows 10/00.

The carrier truck that delivered mine had both Gen II AND Gen III SCrews on it. How lucky is that (payback for the incredibly long wait) ?? 14 weeks is a long time to wait for a SCrew, eh ?

ALL SCREWS ROCK !!

Cool

Generation I with a build date of generation II. Great truck. Water in the tail lights is the only problem so far with almost 11K miles.

I like the early model seats better than the new ones. I would like to add head rest to the rear. I have spent some time in the new seats in a friends Screw and like the comfort of the original ones better.

Gen. I

born 6/2000
I have all of Gen II's spec's except for leather wrapped steering wheel, it was ordered that way. There was very few Screws around here when I brought it home! By the way, the automatic headlights came with the Power Seat option.
