Gen II,
Wish I had rear headrests. But love rear center armrest.. Don't care about new frontseats...like mine with the flip up arm rests, work real good when you rip the stupid Gen II console out and replace it with an Expedition one.

Forgot to say, just changed oil for the first time. What a B*TCH. couldn't get the filter off. Had to drive a screw driver into it which didn't work...not enough leverage.. Drove a 10" punch in and twisted it off. Have fun.

Generation I 4/00

An easy way to get the filter off is look through the fender, grab it and twist off. Mine also has the autolamp feature, and it does have power seats.

Thumbs up

Mine is a GenII with a "born on date" (sorry to take that phrase from that watery macrobrew that I rarely drink) of 2-Oct-2000 (according to VOPC). It has been great with the exception of an annoying exhaust leak that one trip to the dealer hasn't fixed. They say that next time that they are going to replace the 2 exhaust manifold gaskets on the LHS seeing as "tightening the bolts" didn't fix it. Other than that not one other sample problem with this unit, which is pretty good because every other new car I or my family has bought (regardless of manufacturer) has had at least 3 problems to take care of.

In any case, I was kinda pissed about the new seats...mainly because I wanted the bun warmers that were available on the Expedition. I think they look a little more "high-end" but it doesn't sound like they are any more comfortable. The console isn't that big of deal for me because I'd be ripping out the Gen III one for an Expy one anyway because I want the extra storage tray and the extra map pockets. Now I just need to order one! Oh yeah, the gen I & II armrests suck. I can't use 'em since my elbow hits right at their end. I am seriously thinking about buying both a '97-'99 and a '2000-2001 console and seeing if I like the big-lidded one better.

I have placed an order with a dealer to have a SCrew shipped for me. The born on date is 10/02/00. From reading the posts, it sounds like this may be a borderline Gen II/III timeperiod. Any guesses as to whether or not I will have the rear headrests?

sparqy2000,
My guess is it will not have headrests if it was born on 10/02. Mine was born on 11/04 and it was the first one I ever saw personally with the new head rests.

I think I have the Gen II model. I really would like to get headrest or something that can attach to the rear window. My nephews are getting bigger each day.

I had a 1999 Mazda B4000 4 door. Was great except with the neices and nephews. Fell in love with the SC at the Montreal auto show. The SC is great...still getting use the fact that is is 2 feet longer...a little harder to parallel park. Awesome truck....

Mine is Generation II, born in August. I love this truck! Got a great deal on it! If I had a choice certainly I would prefer Generation III for the rear headrests. Keep on S-Crewin!!!! However, its kind of a trade off; as I understand the 17" tires and wheels now require a package order which overall is more costly than the ability to order the tires and wheels seperately.
