Ready for the blower

Where did you guys get your blowers from? I am looking at the Roush, Saleen and Whipple kits. I plan to keep the stock injectors and fuel pump at this time. I have a diablo predator that I believe I can have custom Dyno tunes done for. I appreciate any advice and direction with regards to the purchase I plan to make.

if you purchase a new kit.....most kits will include fuel injectors, intank fuel pump or boost a pump, and a programmer with a conservative supercharger tune(your diablo will still be able to be used to get a custom tune)

it all depends on how much HP/ boost you want....the more you want the more cash its going to take...

I would like to put 400HP/400TQ to the wheels. I got a built transmission about 8,000 miles ago with upgraded stall converter and redband Kevlar clutches, etc... I requested a transmission with the specs similar to monster transmission offers. $3200 out the door and I noticed the difference immediately. Transmission is a huge part in this equation. FYI I am running a 3.73 in the rear.

Keep an eye on eBay & forum classified listings etc.

Can get a used system for a good price. Even the savour of all superchargers.

Then you better plan on bigger injectors.

39's would be a good choice, that way if you want to up the power a little later on you dont have to replace injectors twice!

My bad. I didn't read it right. Thought he ment larger than the 38lb supplied. I see the OP said he wants to use stockers.

If you're buying new (Whipple), if you're looking used (Saleen or Whipple). Used ones are available every now and then. It seems you won't see any for a few months, then all of sudden there will be 2-3 on the used market at the same time. Also, if you plan on 400/400+, plan on deviating from a "stock" set-up.

If you buy the whipple the stock 8PSI kit will give you a POS ford tuner and you reuse stock injectors. You will however be around 360-400RWHP depending on your truck. For the 10PSI kit or 400-420RWHP you need a custom tune via VMP, Troyer, JDM, which requires a SCT handheld, 39lb injectors (some run 60lb I run 47lb), larger Whipple MAF housing (troyer or JDM can get you that housing) and a 3.125 Pulley. Going from the 8PSI to 10PSI will cost you around a $1000 depending on injectors, cost of SCT + Custom tune and whatever the whipple MAF housing cost these days and the Pulley is about $160.

Personally I recommend JDM tuning. I have a VMP tune and Troyer tune and the VMP is very good overall but I feel it may be leaving some power on the table. Troyer tune runs like horrible *** on part throttle and has infamous "power surge" that alot of Saleen S331 guys complain about and that I dislike too. However WOT the power is the best of both my tunes. I plan to use JDM here in a while as I've heard its got the power of a Troyer tune and the driveability of a VMP tune.

Use whoever you like for tuning, call them all up and find out what their wait times are for tunes. VMP took 2 weeks, my Troyer took 7 months. Fatherford has been using JDM and has made over 450RWHP for a long time with no issues. Twinscrewd more recently is at 475RWHP with a troyer tune that he loves. Both are in the 12-13PSI range with built transmissions and upgraded fuel setups.

Anyway, when you install the whipple I would relocate the IAT from the MAF to intake runner 5 with this kit

And I would install a boost gauge at this time as its the easiest time to get your hand behind the blower to install the vaccum line. I did mine after and it can be done, its a pain in the *****.
