Thanks!!

I just got back from driving it for the first time. It still has 87 in it and waiting to burn down to a 1/4 tank before filling with 93. It runs strong with the "stock" custom tune and 87 wit no pinging. I have the 3.2 pulley, so that is supposedly 8 psi of boost. I'm very happy with it, but can't wait to tweak it with a dyno tune, e-fan and maybe gears.

Maybe one day, but with my schedule it's not going to happen for a long time.

Dont run it hard on 87 octane at all. Try to stay out of boost the best you can until you can get 93 in it!

The 93 is in it now, but I'm sure it still needs some time.

Thanks

Sounded to me like you didnt have 93 in it yet? Eitherway if you have 93 in it now its probably fine. Even a quarter of that is 87. Itll probably create a 90ish octane which is fine as some states only have 91 octane (like me)

Yeah, I initially ran it on 87, but not hard. Now I filled it with 93.

Power?

There is definitely an increase in power, but I'm not sure how much I should have.

Should I be spinning the tires from a dead stop to full throttle? I have huge/heavy wheels (Saleen) and 3.55 gears, so I'm not so sure. Also, I'm wondering if the "stock" tune from JDM may be a little conservative?

What do you think?

Heres my truck on 8psi, stock exhaust with a magnaflow si/do catback. Other than that she was stock. 3.55 and 79lb Roush wheels and tires. This was just punching it from a stand still. No holding the brake like the vagina trucks do.

Well, that certainly is NOT what mine does!

My wheels are probably just slightly bigger and heavier than those, but mine is no where near that. You have the Whipple with Troyer tune, right? I'm thinking it may be a tuning issue. I'm actually calling JDM in the morning to see if I can pay for them to "squeeze" me in this week. I have local tuner here that is supposedly good; does a lot of Mustangs, and my Mustang buddy swears by them. I'm scared to let anyone but JDM touch the truck since they had a handle on the Saleens from the beginning.

What's your thoughts?

Do not let the Mustang tuner near your truck!!!! Best piece of advice I will ever give you right there. A lab rat can tune a Mustang. The guys doing the Mustangs are all the same. Make about 8 tunning changes and dyno. Adjust A/F and dyno, then send you on your way. This vid was actually at a Mustang tuners shop called FastLane here in NC. I trusted they could handle this truck with no problem since they had numerous articles written about them in 5.0 and Mustangs and Fast Fords. However they were dumb founded. The truck ran great at WOT but the daily driver part wasn't there. Not to mention they new nothing about tuning the transmission and mine was fried a few months after I put the blower on. You need JDM or Troyer. Im surprised you don't give Mike a call. He is only a 2hours west of you on I64. JDM is fine to just farther away. Personally I like Mike. He is very thorough and knows more about these trucks than anyone I have ever spoke to including JDM (not knocking them, just sayin). I sat with him in his office while he wrote the tune for my truck. Took 4 hours and he made hundreds of changes. He can get you the most power safely. You should at least call him.

Thanks for the advice!! You just confirmed my "gut".

Re. Troyer, I was under the impression he was the Whipple guru, and JDM was the Saleen guru. Two hours would be awesome!! Is he usually booked up? I'll try him tomorrow as well.
