I've seen a few vids of them getting beat by some ricers, lightnings and a guy on base has one but I've never been impressed. I'm more into a creation process when it comes to vehicles but all Dodge did was take the viper enigne and put it in a truck, damn engine block still says viper on it, lol. All Dodge wanted was the fastest truck crown there was no R&D behind that truck which was sad. I wouldn't even bother with cause like the lightning those trucks are just trailer queens.

Wow this could go places...

btw, those SRT-10 trucks are stout. As long as you have the right driver.

lol, yeah I know but hey I call it like I see it. I've never seen a Lightning tow anything and if I had one I wouldn't either but they weren't built with towing in mind. Obviously you can drive them around cause I see them for sell with 60K+ miles on them and people still want over $20K for these vehicles. Can't call these vehicles practical though...can we? *Flame suit on*

People tow with lightnings all the time. Hell I have seen goose neck setups in them. They are great daily drivers and tow pigs.

Special Vehicle Towing

What is so unpractical about a lightning compared to any other truck? Not to mention an srt-10.. Although it is said you "can't" tow with them, I have seen people do it with those trucks as well.

Nice acronym on the SVT. Anything with that much hp is not pracitcal. Of course what do people consider practical? SRT is not practical obviously and I don't consider anything with a supercharger that either nor anything over 300hp. I consider pratical my V6 F150, has enough power to haul stuff, doesn't eat a ton of gas so you can take trips if need be and is just a solid built truck. You start adding forced induction and high powered engines the wear and tear on them just get's higher and pricier. Hell I don't even consider my 08 5.4l F150 practical! I live in VA with flat land so do I honestly need 300hp to get any job done I may be doing? I don't think so but it's a luxury to have it and I got it at a great deal so I don't complain but practical it's not. I plan on buying a used Mustang GT next month which is not practical either, hell it's less thought out than my 08. Factor in insurance cost, monthly payments, maintenance and if these high performance parts break add the cost of that, all of these vehicles mentioned inthis thread are unpractical.

You guys can't be serious comparing 390hp+ trucks to a tiny Ranger? I owed a 94 4 banger Ranger and it was horrible, I spent more time on the gas pedal to get up small hills than actually cruising. I imagine the new 4.0l they carry (I think) are a better solution but I consider the Ranger very good. You can move stuff, decent power and is a good grocery getter.

so the diesel trucks making 365 hp are impractical??? I bet they get better mileage towing than your V-6 does empty

just because people choose not to tow with certain vehciles doens't mean it can't be done with that particular vehcile

I don't tow with either of my F-150's 'cause I have a F-250 for that and the lightning have better brakes than the regular f-150's and sway bars that the noraml f-150's do not so if anything it'd be safer in the lightning

See that's fun, HAHA! I know, I know but honestly I'm just messing around I love the gas eaters too I just have to make sure people don't honestly think these vehicles are for the normal person. Time to hit the gym so flame on lads just remember I'm on your side and have owned 3 F150's with hopes of a new GT in the future.

I guess my daily driver 04 F-150 with 450rwhp and 70,000+miles on it that makes 18-19mpg on the highway. That I tow and haul heavy equpiment with all the time is not practical. Darn that bone stock long block from intake and oil pan, and stock transmission costing me all this money in repairs.

I never knew. I'm going to sell it and buy a v6 f-150 and have a lot less hp and about the same gas mileage.
