wastegate or boost controller
okay so we put the new turbonetics on..
some reason it wont make anymore than 2 psi. the previosu turbo when it worked.... we only saw the same... 2 psi...
im thinking the wastegate could be stuck open... or the boost controller is bad.
the turbo is a turbonetics and it sounds pretty badass..

it is running an intercooler, everything looks great as far.
no blowoff valve though its got a bosch bypass valve. so there is no spring in it to adjust.
it does have a turbonetics manual boost controller and its adjustable to 5-25psi
but the wastegate may be the weak link here, its a pos ebay wastegate...

but.. they could have made a mistake too... truck is still at the shop at the moment..
the first thin the guy at the shop said was 'well, u might have a bad boost controller'
so they wanna bypass that and see what happens.. see if it builds boost or not..

How do you have a bad manual boost controller? Aren't they pretty simple?
I would pressure test your intercooler with the piping and your intake. I just helped a buddy with his, turned out he got 3 bad turbos in a row. These were not small nor cheap turbos. I don't remember the name but they were 92mm I think. He couldn't make much more than a couple pounds of boost. We checked everything, boost controller, blow off, wastegat, intake (found a small leak, but wasn't the culprit). The turbo weren't properly built or whatever and coupled with the high (to high actually) oil pressure the turbo was seeing we ended up with the 4th turbo working. Now, he is tuning and getting ready for 15 psi. This is on a Trans Am.

Turbo
Make sure the manifold pressure is to the middle hole of the wastegate, the boost controller is hooked to the top of the WG and manifold pressure is to the other side of your boost controller.
Could be a leaky diaphram on your wg.. Also just clamp the other side of the bov when its trying to boost and see if that fixes it.
If its the turbo, look at the wheel and see if it has a wobble. When I was running a TV series 88mm a couple years ago I backfired through on and it didn't like that!
Manual boost controllers only add boost over top of what the spring should do. Adding pressure to the top of the WG makes the spring seem stronger and the boost will increase.
They probably hooked the WG up wrong.. Those ebay WG's are cheap but i've seen them actually work.

thank you for all the responses
we'll bypass the boost controller first and then see what we can do as far as adjusting the wastegate.
seems to me after reading more on other forums that wastegates are wastegates they do all the same just some handle more than others.
so basically getting stuck open is probably not something its going to do.. especially since its spring loaded.
so hopefully its a minor issue, i cant afford a new wastegate.. this project has gone way over budget.. and definitely stressful
