I have a JL Audio Stealthbox under the back seat on the passenger's side and a Rockford Fosgate 300S under the driver's side of the back seat. I also have a Rockford Fosgate Punch 40 under the driver's seat running my highs up front. It sounds pretty good. I would also have liked to heard a single 10" or 12" under the bench seat, but none was available. I guess it all depends on the kind of music you listen to. 2 8"s are great for rock and stuff like that because they are tight and clean (espescially with less power). If you want some low down, scare old lady bass, you should go with a bigger speaker. Just don't go with the biggest speaker you can and then skimp out on the amp.

well as of righ tnow i have an eclispe HU (cd8051) and for the amp i have a zapco 350x2 that pushed my focals (165v) up front in the kick pannels and that will soon push the 8s that im going to put in the doors. and then for an amp for the subs i been looking at the jbl 1200.1 and planed on doing two 10s inverted stick out form under the seat....with a 4 inch lift kit on the seat.... but since you want ti all under the seat do the subs firing down...and i would recomend all the stuff i have mentioned.

There is hope for a quick and easy install with good sound and above average bass.

I installed a MTX thunder form in my 98 and it sounds great. You can get them with the speakers and amp already built in the box. Hook up a couple of wires and you got it. You can still keep your changer.

Only drawback is the rear seat does not fold down.

What year is your truck?

I've yet to take some pictures of my install but I'll do that this weekend sometime. So check back monday or tuesday and I'll have some together then.

I've got a 2001 Ext. Cab

1-10" in custom box FACING UP into bottom of seat. Down firing is not your only option. I have 2 amps under my driver's side rear seat. They are "stacked" on top of each other. I need to add another 12V fan for the bottom amp so I can get extra ventilation. I don't know the dimensions of the factory CD Changer.. but under the 2001 rear seat you have about 7" of height between truck floor and bottom of seat. I would imagine it would be a very tight squeeze to fit an amp under one of the front seats but it could be possible to fit a small amp under there I would think.

1-10" Audiomobile EVO sub
2 Phoenix Gold Tantrum T250.2 amps
1 set of Focal 136K 5.25" polykevlar components
Pioneer DEH-P4100 head unit

yea, getting some ideas, I like the MTX thunderform if its easy to install and i wont have to get a new cd eventhough i want an in dash, but im on limited funds for everything, I'm a sophmore in high school and my parents bought the truck (24000) which i had to pay them 15000 back which i did from my money i was saving for a car that was in the stock market since 6th grade and started as 3000 but hit quallcom at the right time, but i have to pay for gas. It gets ok gas milage but its all city driving and I am in sports and stuff so its deciding where I want to put my money in the truck and what for like stereo or performance or what. I put in a grill which i like and it looks good, and Im going to do a flowmaster exhaust/airaid intake and window tint. But I really want some subs!!!!!!! Im going to be working next summer to save money to put into it so its just deciding if i want to get subs now or later, but I want a GOOD system, so either MTX thunderform which i like but is only 2 8's or custom from Al and ed's stereo which would be a new cd player 2 because i would get 2 10's (kicker comp vr's) and would have to get a box bulit to take up everything under the back so bye 6-cd. So any other suggestions??? And thanks Tek2000 for all the great info I appreciate it.
Garrett

To be honest with you man... its probably gonna be better for you if you wait and get what you want rather than settling for something less now. Nothing worse than spending your cash and being unsatisfied. I've never heard the MTX Thunderforms so I can't offer any info on those. But if you have doubts.. I'd advise just holding out until you get the cash to buy exactly what you want. But I realize that can be frustrating too..lol. I am out of college and working.. it took me over a year to get to the point where I was ready to buy EXACTLY what I wanted. And I'm glad I waited.. believe me I was frustrated. I previously had 2 - 12's so I was used to some kick.. that got stolen and I went without a system for over 2 years.

In the meantime, keep visiting car audio forums like this and learn AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. nothing better than having the knowledge to know how to install it yourself and knowing what is good and bad about all types of equipment. It can really save you time and money if you know what you're doing.

Are you planning on using the factory CD player and wiring it directly to your amp?

sdf150,

Not much to install the Thunderform just find the rear speaker wires and tap into them, run a power and a ground, and a remote wire. Just like hooking up an amp. I have the amped version, the unamped is just a matter of hooking up the speaker wires from the amp.

As far as your seat folding up, I guess it would still work but don't know for sure. You would have to ask MTX. I doubt that it would still fold up after install. But just a couple of wires that plug it in to remove the whole box.

Sound is better than I expected but if you want to blow out the windows, this is not for you.

install

sdf150guy,

It only took me about an hour or so to install the thunderform in my truck. I found the speaker wires under the door sills on each side. The speaker just slid under the rear seat and I did not mount it to anything, but I don't live in a high theft area. If you get the powered speaker, you don't have to worry about finding a place to mount the amp. I took some carpet and put it on the outside of the box and it blends in to the factory interior like it was made there.

Any other questions you can e-mail me and get a little quicker response. mdnjholland@internetni.com or mville656@hotmail.com
