Qlogic & JL Audio Advice

Just got my Qlogic Single 10" box. I was wondering if I could manage to squeeze a JL Audio 10" W3 in there? I have a JL Audio 250/1V2 amp that I would power the sub with. The amp reads 4ohm, does this mean I would need to buy a 10" 4ohm Sub? What do guys think of the set up? Will it work, sound good? Any advice? O ya 2006 SuperCrew FX4.

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Should sound fine. Are you sure the w3 will fit in the shallow q-logic box?

Sub resistance doesn't really matter with that amp, it has the same output from 1.5-4 ohms, so you're fine with either.

Thanks Gator, Dont really know if the W3 will fit or not. I had a couple W3's in an old truck of mine and really liked they way they hit. So if the W3 doesnt fit, the W2 or W1 should be just as good?

YES IT WILL FIT. How do I know this? Well its what I have now. When I first purchased this box the only sub at the time that would fit was an Infinity and that went bad on me. According to the JL specs it suppose to be off in depth by..... Well I forgot how much in depth but I bought it from Crutchfield, installed it and love it. I do have a rubber ring around the top of the sub just b/c i think it was of by a quater of an inch, couldn't be much happier and will never purchase Infinity again for a sub.

pmason,
Thanks for the help. What do you mean a "rubber ring around the top of the sub?" Is this something I would have to buy in addition to the sub itself? Also how any watts you pushing the sub with? I was hoping on using a JL 250/1 amp.

If I'm not mistaken it comes with the sub. Its this and round and it goes between the top of the sub (round part) and the box to give lift it up some. The sub is 500W RMS but my amp puts out 400W RMS

The box that comes with the sub is the JL Audio Stealthbox - NOT the QL Box!

The mounting depth of the QL Box is 5 3/4", the JL W3 requires 5.93".

So NO, it will not fit without a spacer.

Sounds like mason is describing the gasket that comes with the woofer.

Be very careful relying on a spacer in a downfire box. You need to have room for the outward movement of the subwoofer (both cone and surround).

Also, I just saw that the W3V3 comes in an 8 ohm version, you'll want to stay in the 2 or 4 ohm models for your amp. The Slash 250 will push the W3, and you'll have the ability to sell it and move up to the slash 500 if you decide to later on.

If your not stuck on JL, an Image Dynamics IDQ 10 V.3 would work well in that qlogic box in that price range.

Correct. Like I said before its only of by like a quater of an inch so you will be fine. I've been running this setup for almost a year now with no issues. Before I knew about the Stealth box the QL box is what I came across so I bought it not thinking at the time about what can fit in it. Once my Infinity sub went I wanted to try JL b/c I had heard a lot of good things about them and I'm more than satisfied

Correct again, it should come with the woofer. FYI I have the 2ohm version

My JL W3 did not come with any type of spacer - the gasket definitely was not 1/4" thick.
