yeah the sundown would be alot better...

you just divide the 1000 by 3 and get 333.33w... but since its sundown you probably will be getting a solid 500w

JL Audio has some info on their site on how to construct a box for their subs (including the W7). I would review their dimensions / volumes, and I would suggest also reading and watching their videos on building sub boxes for strength and durability. I have seen 2 boxes built for W7's blow up because they were incorrect reinforced. Read JL's site on proper construction techniques of sub boxes and specifically for the W7.

for best sound, ive seen w7 boxes as thick as 1"1/2...a w7 cant go in just ANY box...as for amp, if you just spent 500 on a w7, then it deserves to be fed with respect, i think the best amp to power that monster is the jl v2 slash series 1000/1

Why? Have you heard both in an A/B comparison? Do you have first hand experience to back up your bold statement? I know you would take Fi and Sundown over anything any day, I'm just curious as to the reasons behind it since you are very confident.

yeah ive heard peoples systems with jl amps but when the sundown amp produces more than it says and when their custom service is that amazing... and let me tell you i have never seen such great customer service out of a company... also theyre cheaper. and theyre made in the US!

jl amps are nearly bullet proof, versatile, so on so forth. it takes one hell of an amp to beat a jl for everyday use. the 500/1 puts out about 600watts, clean.since i am adding to the system i might even be selling the slash series to get the 900/5 and the 600/4..jl has good customer service and tech support. i have called them numerous times and have been pleased with the result

If you are going to spend that much money on amps, you might as well get some nice A/B amplifiers for your speakers from Zapco or Audison vs. the class D JLs. It will sound miles better on your speakers. For subwoofers, class D is better.

i thought about venturing out of the box for the next step. i didnt even realize the 600/4 was class d. i definately need another amp for going to 3 way active. i dont care about the super bass anymore. im going for clarity. i basically am only using the subs for fill. with just adding more juice to my components, the tweeters really came alive. i was afraid to hurt em before. now that i am getting better with this stuff i am less concerned with toasting them. the 600/4 hd is still full range. do you think that is gonna be that much different from a/b?

If you are building a SQ setup, PM me a budget and goals and I will piece together something for ya. Keep in mind you need a capable processor for going active. 3-way front stage or 3-way total system?

for now i am using the hu and the amp controlls. 3 way front stage. right now i am experimenting with the system since its winter time here. i was gonna ask anyhow, it appears that the A pillars are a tough spot for tweeters. i could try to build them in as you suggested. instead im looking at the panel of the doors where the defrost duct is for the windows, that triangle piece. any thought on that? or in the door posts where the latch is at the top. as far as speakers go i have to stick with what i have. the aura tweets and premier components. it is a solid base to build from. it seems everytime the snow flies the system is changing.
