The doors have 6 1/2" round speakers. The rear are 6x8's.

the '97 and newer are 5X7 in the doors, not 6X8...or at least my '97 was that way and so is my '99 SD. The '93 I had was 6.5 in the doors and 6X8 in the rear. I would recomend Boston Acustics speakers for the doors and JL audio subs(IMHO).

No, 97 and up use 6x8 but a 5x7 will fit in the hole.
Although when I tried to put a 5x7 in mine it fit but with a very small gap on the sides.

Maverick...

Don't limit yourself to just 5x7/6x8 speakers...the selection of speakers in this size isn't exactly the greatest! I just upgraded the entire sound system in my truck and I decided that I wanted to go with 6.5 inch Infinity Kappas. I used some speaker adapter plates that allow you to mount a 5.25 or a 6.5 inch speaker in a 5x7/6x8 opening. They're basically a piece of plastic in the shape of a 5x7/6x8 speaker with a cutout for a 5.25 inch speaker (if you're using 6.5 inch speakers, you have to do a little trimming) and they work really well. I found these at http://www.autotoys.com if you're interested in them.

Thumbs up

Agreed, I love those little mounting plates worth every penny.
IMHO round speakers have better SQ than oval ones anyway.
Components sets are rare using oval speakers also.

My 89 has 6" up front. And no-speakers in the rear. from 1987-1991, Ford DID NOT put rear speakers in the f-series. They did in the bronco. My 93 has 6.5" up front and the usual 6x8's in the rear
