Someone I know in Dallas is selling a gently used reconed IDMAX 12v3 for $225. I have always wanted one now I am just considering the alternatives. If I went with two new mags or bm's that would be more cone area, but a tighter squeeze trying to fit the mags (which I really want, don't want to settle for the bm's) So I was thinking about building a box similar to the one that Whitexweazel had in his truck. My only concern is wedging it like that between the center console and back seat will cause all my stuff in the center console to rattle around which would really be annoying. What would you do in my shoes?

Don't buy the IDMAX. They're way over-rated.

How much do you want to spend on a new sub and what sub amp do you have?

Red, you are the first person I have EVER heard say that an IDMAX was over rated. Money is not an issue. I already have my sub choices narrowed down to a single IDMAX or two of the new mag's. As far as power I have an xt4000 currently but could be getting something else I havent decided yet. I'm about to rewire my truck this weekend, tell me if you guys think this is sufficient enough on the wiring. I will be leaving my crossovers in the doors so I only got 20ft of the 16 guage. Tell me what yall think. (It's a screw btw)

KLMX Kable 1/0 Metallic Blue Power / Ground Cable 25ft
KLMX Kable 4 Gauge Silver Pearl Power/Ground Cable 5ft
KonFUSED High Current In-Line Fuse Holder (240A) I'm still on the fence on this?
Krystal Kable 2 Channel 4M Twisted Pair RCA Cable 14ft got two of them
Karma SS 16 Gauge Speaker Wire 20 ft

All Knukonceptz. What do yall think about the new fuse holder? and is 14' long enough for rca's to the back wall? Here's a link to the fuse block http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDe...?prodID=KNI-11

Good on the wires. The fuse should based off of the current draw of the amp or amps.

How much do you wanna spend on a new sub? I'm telling you dude there are many better subs out there.

How much do you wanna spend on a new amp if you decide to get a new one?

I'm probably getting a saz1500 just waiting to hear back. I dont wanna spend more than 600 on new subs and they have to fit under the seat with no lift. and they have to be 12s

Why do they have to be 12's? A high quality 10 will hit just as low and lower than a lot of lower quality 12's.

What's the deapest the subs can be? Idk what the clearance is under the seat.

5.5 is pushing it. I've just never really been a fan of 10's. Haven't found one that I like and they are too punchy for my taste. I've always had 12's or a 15. I love my 15 and how low it gets but I need something more practical that will fit under the seat.

How much did you pay for it?

Do you wanna buy subs online or at a shop? So I know what prices to look for.

Online. And I traded my 360 for it straight up. I might just downsize to a single 12 under the seat, I havent decided. I'm just scared it wont be enough for me. That'd be sick to do a single rainbow vandium 12 but I think i'd need a lift.

to touch on the subject of console boxes, i didn't have any rattle in my stock console. if built right the box will absorb alot of the vibration. Even with a W6 in that box never did i have console rattles.

if you really wanted to, you could build a box down fire for the two mags. I was able to fit the W3 which have a mounting depth of around 6"s.

Hey thanks for the input Daniel. Did you not have a seat lift with those w3s though? I might just run that single idmax in a box like yours. I can't beat the price and it should sound amazing with that saz1500 In a sealed enclosure that is like 1.2 or so. I dunno who that guy is but I have never ever heard a negative word about the max. Infact I have heard that it is the most accurate clear sounding woofer ever produced and never misses a note. I have seen over a dozen write ups on it and they all say the same thing. Nothing negative. I'm interested to see what setup he comes up with that is "better" than two of the new mags which are supposed to be amazing as well or an idmax.

I could barely see 6" with a very low excursion 10/12. But I was pretty sure Weaz had a lift.

Anyways, ya I dont know who that guy is. He has been talking everywhere on things that Im not real sure he knows... My guess, is he has glanced over a few posts. Hears certain things and repeats them to sound smart...

Enough bashing, but I have only heard that IdMAX in a Ib style enclosure. But the numbers sound about right...
