WWYD.....New Truck

I'm picking up my 2007 Screw Lariat this week. The first thing I want to do is add some bass.

The truck I'm trading in (2004 Trailblazer) has a sick system in it. I installed 2 JL 12w3v3's and an Alpine MRP-M1000 amp pushing 1000 watts. I love the way this system sounds and really want something similar in my new truck.

I'm afraid that going with shallow mount subs under the back seat such as the Kicker Comp VT's or Rockford Punch Shallows won't be good enough for me, especially coming from what I have now.

My other option is to go with the rear seat lift and a deeper box, possibly with a dual 12" box from SuperCrewSound and the same JL 12w3's that I have now.

What are your thoughts? Will I be satisfied enough with the shallows? Should I go with the lift and bigger speakers? Any negatives to the seat lift?

Thanks,
Chris

ive heard mixed reviews about the shallow mount woofers..but ive herd some in person and it sounded good. only 1 was hooked up too..

now will you be using the back seats? are you trying to be heard 8 blocks up the road? it basically depends on what YOU wanna do..think of it like this, if you do get 2 shallow woofers and a box you can always sell it to a f 150 owner who dont have it

i would say that the cvt's should be about as loud as your w3's depending on box and all but the SQ of the w3's would be better, i have kicker cvr's and i love the way they sound and they slap hard too

No more than $600 a piece, and at that point I would really have to be sure that they would satisfy me.

Ok i was gonna suggest a critical mass sub, but i dont remember them costing SO much. they are like 950 a sub, but rms is 1000 watts and i have heard nothing but GREAT things about them. just have not had a chance o listen to them. next time i go to the other coast i heard there was a deler that sells them and i need to check them out. Jl does have a shallow mount in that range. maybe give them a try?

would you be willing to knock out one of the seats? if so, for 600 for each sub, i would say get one high end 12 like an RE XXX, Orion HCCA, Fi BTL, or if you're a JL junkie, a Dub 7

personally, i just picked up an orion H2 (last years version of the HCCA) and it pounds. plus, im only running it on 400 watts....the rms is rated at 2000!!!

To answer your question, no, I am not willing to sacrifice any passenger space in the truck for my subs.

your not going to come close to the 12w3's without a seat lift... even at that you still might be disappointed. a blowthrough is always a good option if you don't mind losing a little bed space

If you really want to go shallow, go with the new JL TW5's. I have been hearing some sick reviews on these things.

Is the 12" version available yet? I see it on the power chart but not listed as a product.
